Save Enscape settings with scene.

  • I have a huge request, Please find a way to save all the settings for scenes when we save the model, it is so inconvenient to open a previously set scene and have to do it all again.

There must be a way to save settings with the SU model.

  • already really exists. Just save the settings to a file in the enscape properties tab at the top. Then when you need to just import it into your sketchup file. I have multi profiles already setup. This way you can also use on different projects.

Also it stores these settings in an xml file that is in the users\"username"\Documents\Inreal Technologies\enscape\settings folder on that machine. This file can be copied to other machines running enscape to move the settings to that machine. It even packs the skybox image if you are using one into that file.

Thanks scottofazphx, great answer. Let me add that the term "Inreal Technologies" might also be Enscape -> It's a legacy name and switched to Enscape for newer installations.

  • That is a temporary and convoluted solution however what would really be convenient is if it automatically saved with the SU model when saving and exiting, the way all other Softwares do.

  • It does not save the animation start and end. Really what I want is not to save presets, I want to save all data pertinent to the model, so when I open a blank session of Sketchup all Enscape setting are reset at default and when I have done all my editing and setups and save the model all the enscape settings are saved with the Sketchup model, am I making sense?

  • +1 on this request. I do a high volume of work and the work around is not practical. Especially considering how often Sketchup crashes. Storing the settings with the file would also save them with the autosaves, which would be a time saver. This is a must for production work.

  • +100 for me.

I'm loving Enscape, but settings not being saved with each file and having to save/load presets for each file seems very arcane for how innovative, forward-thinking, and....just how plug n play the rest of Enscape is. It has messed me up many times so far. I'll get a scene set up perfect, then work on another project, and when I get back around to the other project I find that I totally screwed up the first project. This might be ok for people working on 2 projects at a time, but when you are working on 10-20 at a time this is just unrealistic.. I couldn't imagine if it were up to me to save my Vray settings for each file... Being able to save presets is great. Its nice to set up deafault interior/exterior settings to have an easy way to start a project. But I would really love that if I hit save on a sketchup file, I knew that Enscape saves everything exactly how I have it set up at that moment for this one particular sketchup file, and will not effect any other sketchup files I'm using Enscape with. Really impressed with Enscape so far and can't wait to see how you keep improving the program.

    Thanks!

  • I've ruined / had to redo settings for a few more projects since posting here. I even erased or saved over another projects settings accidentally while trying to save save settings. Would really love a solution to this similar to other engines, where settings are saved automatically when changed and pertain only to that file. Ithink still being able to save settings will still be very handy, so you can quickly change from say, day to night settings on the fly. I' ve also noticed I have the same problem with camera paths ...i cant remember to save them and lose all my animation. - I think it might be good to treat those in the same manner. Maybe even a camera path 'lister' where you can manage multiple camera paths in the same file....? Dont want to sound like im complaining too much. Enscape is exceeding all my expectation so far....just want to give constructive feedback. Thanks!

  • GD3Design No worries, we love to get such constructive feedback like yours.

And we're all humans, emotions have to be allowed and are important as well in order to optimize products.

  • Plus two!. This seems like a very basic feature that would go a long ways towards increasing usability. Just today I opened a new sketchup file, and upon starting Enscape had all of my revit settings carry over, which of course I had to modify, and now when I go back I'm going to have to undo them. I realize it's possible to save settings, which I do, but it's easy to forget, and it would be way easier if Enscape did this automattically with every file. You could still have the option to save additional settings the way you do now if you'd like to have multiple ones you switch between for the same project, or if you'd like to transfer them from one project to another, but the basic savability should be there by default.

  • I may be missing something but these saved settings seem to stick with Enscape not with the model? I started trying to use these as I have a client who is very particular that every element of the lighting etc.. be exactly the same with each revision of the rendering.. However when you save these settings per view they come with you to your next model? I could have hundreds of these by the time I am done as I am adjusting them per scene per model. I really need a way to save each scenes specific settings and have that stick only with the model.

  • Thanks for all the further feedback guys. :) I've happily given the topic a further corresponding 5 upvotes.

Thanks for the feedback dvsone1440 and Lemarchal , I can understand your concern. I'll add this feedback to the topic as well so that our developers will be aware that there should be an option to only save settings per model, not per view. :)

Sort of.. it should be per model AND per view. In other words you it would ideally have each scene's settings, but that stays with that particular model. I don't want them in the next model as they will likey be completely different and having those just make for a very long list of settings to try to manage after creating many models. Might be nice to save them out and bring them into a new model occasionally but for the most part they in my mind would ideally only be associated with one model by default
