I've been giving the new multi-point camera path tool a fairly extensive testing, and have searched as best I can for discussions relating to it, but in both cases I feel my efforts are running a little short. Namely;
1. With time-control no longer a dedicated key, (unless using a joypad) often a slip of ones finger can "jolt" the view when attempting to set a time-lapse for a fixed camera.
2. Related to the above, setting a time-lapse for a fixed camera using the video path seems now impossible, at least with the preview, since one can't (obviously) set two cameras, different times, in the same place.
3. Further to the above, DOF, and other setting-adjustments between keyframes, doesn't seem to be supported, or I've forgotten the trick to achieve this.
4. The transition between the keyframes does not appear linear, even with camera speed set to constant, insomuch, the video (or at least the preview) appears to blitz through closer-spaced frames.
5. The transition between keyframes doesn't feel as fluid as it could be - with distinct jolts.
6. Defining a linear dolly (of movement) is nigh-on-impossible
7. The up-down movement keys do not appear isolated to the vertical (z-axis) and "move" the camera viewpoint forward/backward with a tilted (non-centred) head
8. The keyframe editor does not feel particularly convincing - in that it is difficult to ascertain if the change to time (for example) has been committed - and a "next/previous keyframe" button would be a massive help
9. etc
Whilst I am very grateful for the addition of multipoint, I actually find myself longing for the linear 2-point, which, despite suffering some of the same above issues, felt more like I was composing (traditional) shots - which I was then (more than happy to) edit and collate in post.
I've avoided adding this to the features request sub-forum, as I suspect some, if not all, of my points could be addressed through practice/guidance, which is what I am essentially posting this (to ask) for.... but in future releases, if the option to call points from a model were possible, perhaps (for example) employing a "widget" camera family* that one might place to "build" shots, (particularly for linear dollies, etc) then that would be immense.
*I have one, but at work, which I'm not presently at, will follow up tomorrow.
