Capture and Customization options

Please cast your votes in our two ongoing feedback polls here and here!
  • I think that these tabs should be combined into a "Global Options" tab and have a "Project Options" tab that has almost identical options that will over-write the defaults (set int the global one).

Or perhaps the same tab with a slider that slides out project fields over the top?

    There are a few additional options I would like to see;

    • Load screen scale: option to stretch to fit, scale X or scale Y (Depending on the screen resolution)
    • Default save path: show the path on-screen.
    • Save name format: a text string similar to the Excel format (default to [dd-mm-yyy "Enscape" Title] ) for use when saving any renders or .exe (This would replace the 'automatic naming' tic box) (Maybe also re-title "File format" to "File Type"?)
    • Save overwrite behavior: option to add a prefix or suffix if the same title is found; either numeric or alphabetic, or default to over-write. (This would mean that you could make the 'name' = "Project" and every image would be named "Project-1","Project-2"...)
    • Watermark: an image to overlay on any renders that are generated from Enscape (Similar to the original "Enscape trial" splash) and an option on transparency level for it
    • Stamp: Similar to a watermark, but text; pick a font and text string (Can use same string formatting as name format, including keywords for path, file-name and overwrite) then specify a corner to place the text in.
    • Web page title: when uploading panoramas for 3D, the ability to customise the title of the image seen.

(I would also move the "Resolution" options to be within the 'screenshot' wrapper, with another "Resolution" option within the 'video' wrapper.)

  • How would you group the settings in these mentioned two new tabs?

Basically we have a story on our agenda regards project related shared network settings, so we will rethink our settings system.

    So you're feedback is appreciated.

    • Load screen scale - So "Window" is not fitting your needs?
    • Show default save path - Added it to our agenda
    • Customize Automatic naming - Got your upvote
    • Overwrite - Why do you want to overwrite automated a bunch of files? Wouldn't it be easier to empty the destination folder of the unwanted files?
I'm only saying this because I think this will be fault-prone.
    • Watermark - is available in Customization tab "User Interface Overlay"
    • Stamp - Got your upvote
    • Title for panorama - Added it to our agenda.
    • Splitted Resolution Video/Screenshot - Got your upvote.
  • Re: grouping don't know yet - need to have a look. It's just that both these tabs contain global settings. I understand that they are currently split into 'live' settings and 'output' settings (not a bad thing) but the idea is that you only go into the global settings once when you buy the product and this sets up how you would normally use Enscape in your workflow. However you would go into project settings every time you created a new project (And/Or these fields automatically update with meta-data from the native application, like 'file name' and 'save location')

Currently I take my machine to different monitors and displays to 'show off' the models (in full-screen); If I make a splash-screen for one resolution/screen aspect ratio, then on some others it cuts off the top/bottom or it leaves gaps to the sides. If there were options like the 'windows desktop image' then it wouldn't matter how I set up the splash.
Also note that the timer for how long the title splash is on-screen is not tied to the progress bar (Which should really be on the same screen as the splash if using multiple monitors) It might also be cool to have an option to fade-out the splash with a percentage that corresponds to the percentage of the progress bar.

Overwrite - Why do you want to overwrite automated a bunch of files? Wouldn't it be easier to empty the destination folder of the unwanted files?

I generate between 5 and 10 images for a project, then someone says "actually, can you change the size of this and the colour of that before the client sees them". Not a problem since every view is saved and it's seconds with just a click of a button to re-render. But I have to delete the originals and/or over-write the specific images that you can see the change. (I'm lazy and this would save a step in the process.)

Watermark - is available in Customization tab "User Interface Overlay"

Yes, but I don't want it getting in the way while I'm composing and tweaking the image or while demoing a walk-through - I only want it to appear on renders. And it would be nice to have fancy options too without having to be clever with the image used (like setting transparency, or using a simple 'emboss' filter or changing the overlay mode to 'add', 'subtract' or 'invert'...)

Both groupings have their right to exist. We'll check what would benefits the usability most.

I've put an automated customized loading screen as topic on our agenda. Thanks for your detailed feedback which underlines the importance for you.

The loading screen is longer active than the progress bar, thats right. Currently we're displaying the loading time of the model into our engine. We'll check whats feasible as well for the transparency - fading.

Ah only for renderings....would result in an additional checkbox in dependency on an general overlay. We'll discuss this.

We want to keep our dialogs as simple as possible.
