Recommended GPU - Graphics card?

  • Will Enscape RTX support include GI raytracing a la Metro Exodus or is it more an AO / reflections / etc like Battlefield V

It is hard to compare the gaming techniques with what is used at Enscape (at least without going into technical detail) because the goals and requirements are much different. We will most likely not use DLSS but improve our existing state of the art filtering and upscaling solution.

  • Hi,

My company works on mega projects, we are using Enscape + Revit + VR. Currently, we are looking into Nvidia Titan V or RTX to replace the existing P5000. WIll there be any issues while running the new Titan GPUs on enscape?

  • Any chance that Enscape will take advantage of NVIDIA's Freestyle overlay filters? I'm interested in ways that I can make my renderings stand out from other users of Enscape without asking for buttons and sliders :) Freestyle seems kinda interesting since it appears to only marginally affect framerates even in AAA games...

    Just thinking out loud perhaps

  • Hi all, looking to upgrade my work PC. Can anyone give me some thoughts on this spec - I'm running into graphics card time outs and crashes and very slow performance on my current spec (Quadro Card that is almost 4 years old), so I hope the below will give me vastly better performance for rendering videos and future proof for at least the next 4 years:

    Intel i9 10 core processor (i9-9820x)

    32GB DDR4 2666 RAM

    8GB Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080

Would more RAM make much difference? Is the i9 worth the premium over a 6 core i7?

    Thanks!

  • Interesting, I will have to test it when Enscape will support RTX, maybe I will not have to buy the graphics card again;)

For now, they threw it for the Game Ready drivers ... and the question for the Enscape team: which drivers should I use better? Games Ready or Creator Ready?

Tikos' question was left unanswered and it also is a concern for me. I recently updated my driver and am trying the Creator Ready Driver 419.67, and Enscape repeatedly crashes where it never used to. Should I switch back to the Game Ready drivers?

  • BarryFishFinger Since Enscape doesn't support multi GPU usage you could try to get so much GPU power and memory as possible.

At the web I found the GTX2080ti is 35% faster. Here a wild calculation:

RTX2080 cost 820€ x 1.35 -> 1100,-€. So, the price/perfomance difference between RTX2080 and RTX2080ti (1200€) is approx. 100€. For 100€ you get 11GB instead 8GB. If you want to keep the GPU for 4 years the GTX2080ti could be a good deal.

Also it depends on your need - if you like to use a HMD, than GPU power can't be enough. If you like to create complex scenes and to work with other software like Photoshop ... at the same time, than a higher GPU memory could be useful too.

CPU speed - for what do you need it? Is the speed so important?

RAM - 32GB is not so much, but it depends on your need. Best you look at your current RAM usage. You could buy 32GB now, but keep some slots open to upgrade later.

  • Thanks for this info Micha. I'll take a look at the 2080Ti. CPU, i9 is probably overkill, but our rendering package can utilise both CPU and GPU so I was thinking of making it lean much more heavily on the CPU side so that I can free up the GPU for AutoCAD tasks which I need to run at the same time.

RAM, I have 32Gb now which seems just about sufficient, but I suppose given the relatively low cost of RAM, I could spec 64Gb.

    Thanks!

  • I also am interested in the 1660 or 1660ti. It seems favorable compared to the 1070, but the pricing is much better. We have a mix of 1060/1070 and they seem to perform decently. We're a little hesitant to go to the 20xx series as there seem to be some mfg problems based on a lot of reviews.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

  • I have the strong feeling my previous GTX card rendered better than my current RTX card.

    Is this possible?

Even though the RTX isn't full supported today, I assumed a RTX would have the same outcome today as a GTX.

My impression is that the RTX has more problems with the auto-exposure...

  • Recently got a new machine with an i7, 32gb RAM and a 2080, couldn't be happier - great performance when modeling and rendering. With the RTX features for Enscape coming up I'd recommend going with an RTX card.

ok so lets do the test , do you got skatter ? if yes , lets make a rectangle 100m*100m and populate it with grass from skatter library and then start to move your scene ....wanna know whats is yout fps ....

I recently added some upgrades in my office - I'm on a 2080 / others are on a 2060 / two people run on a 1660 ti. We also have a 1080 ti, a 1080 in one of those MSI Titan laptops, and a Trident 3 on a 1070. Between all of those cards, in Enscape, the performance to cost winner is the 1660 ti with two big caveats: you should use a 1080p display with settings on high and get yourself some good case fans. The 1660 ti is a great card at 1080p. Alternatively, if you want to connect to a TV as a display in your meeting room (ie 4K UHD) or you want to run Enscape at 1440p or higher on Ultra, the 1660 ti will not cut it, like at all. In that case get yourself into a 1080 ti or an 2080 (price willing). I am getting very good performance from my 2080 and I am glad I invested. At that price level you might want to consider the Radeon VII as well, since it has 16GB of RAM!

  • Hi! I've got Supermicro X8DA3 motherboard with 2x QuadCore Intel Xeon W5590 and GeForce GTX 670 4gb workstation.

When I try VR or rendering video its too hard for it.

I wanted to buy RTX2070 super 8gb, but my collegue told me I could better buy Quadro m4000 8GB (it's cheaper) for my workstation

    What can you advice?

  • If the decision is between the RTX 2070 super and the Quadro M4000, then definitely go for the RTX! The Quadro M generation is now outdated for years (almost 5 years old), while the RTX 2070 super is still state of the art. Thus it runs circles around the old quadro ;) Enjoy your upgrade - the performance increase compared to the GTX 670 will be significant!

  • Hi. I just bought a Vive PRO. I ran your Free Sample Projects "residence" and got 20 FPS in Draft Quality in VR (I have a gtx1070). Help, which card is needed for Ultra Settings in VR (minimum) for such projects? What is more important to have faster GPU (rtx2070, rtx2080) or more GB of GPU RAM (gtx1080ti) and got 60 FPS and more?
