New material bump settings

  • So, I admit I'm not too skilled on this, but trying to understand the new types of "height" maps. Can we use the albedo texture for all 3 of these like we used to just be able to plug them in for bump depth in the older versions, or does a displacement map (for example) need to be a true displacement map to have any effect?



  • Great question Diane, so for "Normal" and "Bump" you can use the Albedo map, but, for the best results even here we recommend using the dedicated Bump/Normal maps provided alongside a high-quality Albedo texture. For displacement, though especially, use the dedicated Displacement map as it will be more than worth it.
