Yeah I just saw the new Feature of TwinMotion 2020 and wow! big advancements. I'm sure Enscape has some fun surprises this year for us.

Enscape is visually so good right out of the box, it continues to be an easy decision to keep using it. That said, the longer it takes to get feature-parity with the competition, the more interest there will be in going a different direction. Unfortunately for Enscape, they are hamstrung by the slowness of the Revit interface when it comes to materials, lighting, entourage. Would be great for Enscape to somehow ease that pain... Python script for easy Revit material setup from Substance files or carefully named texture files? Entourage /tools that have built in distribution scripts for scattering/placement? Think Rail-clone / Forest Pack Pro functionality built into Enscape. I can dream, cant I?

Substance Alchemist added a preset for Enscape material map export. This is great as it automatically corrects the Normal Map. -
Yes, we do have plans to support both for the material editor. Right now normal maps are only supported for the new Revit 2019 materials.
However if you've got normal maps for your material right now, you might want to rename them with an _n at the end of the filename (e.g. myfile_n.png). Enscape will pick that up and interpret it as a normal map

Clemens Musterle Woah I've never heard of the "_n" suffix. Does that mean that it won't be a normal map unless that suffix is present? Please clarify.

Hey mattendler, normal maps work fine when using the Enscape Material Editor (Sketchup, Rhino, etc) without any suffix. That quote is from 2018 and was aimed at Revit users, when there was no native support for normalmaps in Revit materials - in that case you could workaround the Revit limitation by using this suffix in your filename.

Hi All,
I just wanted to chime in on the Substance mentions. I use an open source application called Materialize from Bounding Box Softwareto create all my PBR maps from one initial image. It's a great quick way to generate Normal maps, Height maps, Metal, AO, Smoothness, etc. All from an initial Diffuse map image.
There are sliders and presets for each map type and it lets you view the material right there in the viewer as you build and tweak it.
A quick google search for Materialize PBR can get you there or for those more to the hacker end of the spectrum can quickly find it on GitHub.
For those looking to save a buck in these dog days of Covid.
