Black Screen Nvidia 3080 and 3.0

  • Hello

I have a new machine with RTX 3080. I have Enscape 3.0 installed. I utilize Sketchup with Enscape. With multiple models, when orbiting, the GPU crashes to Black screen and I need to do a hard reset. I have the current drivers, and Dell Tech Support has run through diagnostics. I have re-seated the card. I have also set the Performance to Max Performance in the GPUs settings. Enscape is the only program creating this problem. Please advise.

I'm sorry to hear about that - please kindly send in a feedback report then:

Thank you in advance, that will be very helpful for troubleshooting the cause behind this.

  • Hello

I have sent feedback earlier this week. I have not received any updates as to this situation. Please advise.

I am unable to use Enscape right now without crashing and have tried all troubleshooting I know, as well as contacting both Dell and Nvidia. I have the latest drivers and the latest Enscape. Again, please advise.

  • Try turning RTX off in Enscape preferences and then trying again.

The only way I can get Enscape to crash with my 2070 is if RTX is on, with it off Enscape is rock solid for me.

  • Thank you, but I have tried turning RTX off... same result of crashing to black screen.

You should definitely receive a reply rather soon than or have gotten one already and it perhaps landed in your spam folder. Can you check that too? Otherwise, please kindly send me your e-mail address used to send in the feedback report via a DM and I'll have a look. Please also let me know once you've sent the DM!

  • I just started experiencing this problem last week. I'll be working (on a very light scene, low polys, etc) and my screen will go black and the GPU fan kicks into high gear. I then have to do a force shut down. It's happened 4 times just today....

Reading this brief thread, I'm not convinced Enscape is the problem - but I do believe it's the trigger.

I've owned my new Boxx for about 45 days, and everything has performed flawlessly. I've not added any new software, updated drivers, etc. My spec has remained exactly the same. There's been no Windows10 updates for at least several weeks.

    Spec:
    (2) Xeon Gold 6226R 2.9GHz

    128GB RAM

    RTX8000

With that kind of horsepower we can eliminate the GPU or any part of the system becoming overburdened. Everything points to a hardware failure of some kind - most likely in the GPU itself. Software doesn't just magically start causing crashes if absolutely nothing gets updated or changed. However, Enscape has always been running during the black outs, but that doesn't mean Enscape is at fault. Enscape, more than any other process, is going to heat up the GPU. If there's any kind of failure (like eroding or not enough thermal paste), that increased heat will likely trigger the crash.

I'm working the rest of the day on stuff that doesn't require Enscape. Let's see if I have another crash. I'll report back what I find out for anyone else in the future that might experience the same issue.

By the way, Boxx customer service has been excellent. They are ready to replace my RTX8000 immediately to eliminate that as a possible cause....

  • have you managed to resolve the issue?

im running into the same problem, with relatively high poly count using skatter.

enscape crashes causing blacksreen and gpu fan kick into high gear, windows becomes unresponsive and needs a hard reset.

my specs are amd 5900x, rtx3090, 128gb ram, it should be able to handle anything, vram and gpu loads are normal before crashing, so i would assume its the software thats causing the problem.
