Enscape Crashing when Rendering a Scene

Please cast your votes in our two ongoing feedback polls here and here!
  • Hello,

Enscape is crashing on me when I try to render a scene.

I sometimes get 2 or 3 renders successfully, then the next one crashes without any setting changes.

    This is frustrating.

I have an amazing Nvidia gpu and workstation, so my hardware is capable. Perhaps with the new enscape version there is a bug or another setting that in need to tweak.

    Any advice is welcome.

Here is the crash screen below:

  • @DPHORVATH , I'm sorry to hear about that.

Please first off, make sure that your Windows operating system is up to date, and that you also have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card.

If that doesn't help, please kindly send in a feedback report then:

For context, you can simply include the link to this thread in the submission form before sending us the report.

Thank you in advance, that will be very helpful for troubleshooting the cause behind this.

  • Thanks Demian,

Yes, my Windows and GPU drivers are up to date.

My Revit has the hotfixes installed and i am using the latest Enscape as well.

Enscape did just email me with a reply, and they mentioned there is a bug within Enscape that they hope to have fixed in the near future.

In the meantime they suggested using scope box in revit to reduce the elements being factored into the render, which did work for me in this case. It is a large revit model so that makes sense. I also turned off the exterior landscaping assets since i didnt need them for the interior render. The second tier of work around was to reduce the resolution from Ultra to High, but i didnt have to do that in my case. The scope box strategy did work.

I look forward to the bug fix update in Enscape.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  • Thanks a lot for staying tuned DPHORVATH , and I appreciate your response!

  • Hi to everyone

I have one question about latest drivers for Nvidia.

When it comes to pick out download type, what do you suggest to pick, Production Branch/Studio or New Feature Branch ?

    Best Regards

  • If you haven't seen it already, there is also a description provided by NVIDIA themselves here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Help.aspx?lang=en-us

Since, and I quote from the Production Branch drivers description "This driver was previously named, Optimal Driver for Enterprise (ODE), and is most commonly deployed in production systems at enterprises." we also recommend going with those.

  • DPHORVATH - This type of crash is generally due to a lack of VRam. You can test/confirm by opening your Task Manager and looking at your GPU "Dedicated GPU Memory" This is found under the Performance tab. If you're close to maxing out your PC's VRam before render time you will most like crash as Enscape uses a bit more during the export depending on your Visual settings.
