A shadow is appearing when I render a scene that includes a transparent PNG file as part of the composition. In this case, it's a mockup of a metal sign. The PNG file uses alpha channel transparency to isolate the graphics within the frame (when opened in Photoshop, for example). The PNG renders well in Rhino, but Enscape seems to identify the entire file frame, creating what appears to be a shadow behind the transparent area of the object that is not desired.

I have moved your thread to our Bug and Error Reports section.
Could you verify you are using our latest release version as found here.
If so, could you perhaps share the PNG file with us to further test this.

Thank you for sharing the .PNG file with me.
I was not able to reproduce this as seen in the attached image, could you perhaps tell me step by step how you applied the image to see if that helps in resolving this.

Thank you for following up.
I was able to reproduce this now in both our latest stable and preview version and have forwarded this to our developers.
Once I have any new information I will update you.

Great. Thanks for your help.

Our developers have taken a look, and this is a current limitation in our renderer.
There are plans to address this however, but I am unable to give you any timeframe.
A workaround for now would be to recreate the actual geometry instead of using a cutout rectangle.

I have also tried to create completely invisible obstacles (exported from Revit) as barriers where I do not want viewers to be able to pass.
But thes also throw shadows and it has been aestethically unpleasing.
Some way to exclude transparent/cutout material shapes from shadow casting would be much appreciated.

I'd like to +100 this.

Yes; let's raise awareness so this gets fixed ASAP. Still an issue to be sure.
-
+1 Any progress on a fix for this issue?

Hello everyone. I am happy to share that this issue has been fixed internally, so it should be out in one of our next versions!
