Mac Support Main Overview Thread

  • Hi guys, its nice to hear that we will have our beloved Enscape on MacOS. I have the M1 MacBook Air and its crazy, that I can do pretty heavy Sketchup models on such thing /sleak, light, finless/ just on battery during brunch...

My question is if there is already known /expected minimum specs to run Enscape on MAC...Im planning to buy myself the new M1pro...probably the cheapest 14inch with 16GB unified and 14core GPU...but not sure if its enough for Enscape /we use Enscape just for simple quick shoots, no videos, no VR/....thanks

  • I’d imagine it’s too early to tell if the software isn’t made and if the performance of these new Macs is still somewhat shrouded in mystery

I do understand your point of view. But I expect that when the Enscape team announced the Enscape for MAC, they are already working on it...so they have to have some kind of "test bench" and maybe they already know that what is not enough and what might be enough...unfortunately most of the reviews for new Apple SOC /M1, M1pro,M1max/ are based on photo and video editing /I do understand why...the connection between Apple's HW and SW is the biggest power from my point of view/ but I see the new Apple chip era as a return for Apple to the PRO customer segment /I remember days something like 20 years ago, when its was cruical to use Mac for some PRO tasks also in AEC business...for example Archicad an Vectorworks were beautiful optimised for this OS.../ So we will see what future brings, but I hope that not long from now Apple will be back in business and I don't mean the fancy brand for youngsters...

The only hardware that has been available to anybody has been the M1 Mac Minis and iMacs, which might be used as the minimum system requirements for Mac, but nobody knows what the new machines perform like yet.

I'd b curious if anyone has tried running enscape on an M1 mac in parallels right now and how that performs - I was pleasantly suprised when I tried running another real time renderer on it the other day.

Also , from what they said, part of the move to Mac comes with them transitioning Enscape (on all platforms) to Vulkan, which in itself may have some big hits on how well things work - before it gets to the point where it works as well/better than it does now.

If I was enscape, I wouldn't want to make any suggestions or infer anything that is not set in stone.

I do understand your point of view. Maybe just small though that as far as I know, a lot of reviews and firms which prepare software for new platform have access to the new hardware, for example new release of CINEMA 4D M1 based was released almost the same time as M1 chip itself...so I expect that they had hardware long time before the official release...anyway I will wait, maybe Enscape team have some knowledge and if not I will buy it before end of year the specs which I can afford and hope it will be enough

What I know is that UE5 (Lumion) works very well on M1Pro/Max... It's already works on Mac mini (M1)

  • Unreal Engine is from Epic Games.

Epic has Twinmotion, which runs OK on Apple Silicon.

    Although not yet native.

well I will be fine to hear at least something from Enscape team...anyway when they at least read this forum thread...I apply for beta testing...we have several M1 chip based computers in my buro...

  • According to the newsletter,

    Beta in March 2022, fine.

But for Sketchup only. Hmmh ....

No Sketchup here. My App hierarchy is

    - Vectorworks

    - Bricscad

    - C4D

    - Modo

    - and maybe Blender in the future

I can imagine that so far most Enscape users use Sketchup or Revit.

But for the Mac Version, wouldn't it be more likely Vectorworks or Archicad ?

  • In the smaller business and freelance markets, 100's of thousands of interior designers use SketchUp on Mac and there are only a handful of renderers for it there.

Hi! Will there be an Enscape for rhino 7 on mac's with the m1pro chip?

    Thanks

While we or I cannot make any definite promises just yet, I don't see a reason why we would not support this setup.

And of course, a warm welcome to our Forum TEX !
