GPU Error with Preview 9

  • We turned all the nvidia raytracing/upsampling features off for all users for now, as it's just too unstable.

Seems like at least some of those issues are still present in the latest preview build.

  • Depending on the scale/amount of geometry of the project you're working on, the ray traced sun shadows require a large amount of memory. The error message says that you've run out of gpu memory - if you ignore and continue, the feature will be disabled. If this happens regularly we suggest to disable the feature in the renderer settings or upgrade to a gpu with more memory.

Pieter if you receive the above message then upsampling/DLSS should actually improve the situation, as it lowers the memory requirements. If you experience instabilities with these features, please do submit feedback with log messages, so we can look into it. Thanks!

Thank you Clemens. I was crashing because I (supposedly) ran out of memory while having the raytraced sun shadows on. But this was on a tiny scene with a handful of standard Enscape trees in it (and nothing else). I was able to reproduce the issue on 3 separate machines. We submitted feedback logs and were advised to turn of the raytraced sun shadows feature.

I guess we went a little bit overboard with turning everything off. I will advise my users to turn upsampling back on :)

  • Hi jwal485

In case you haven't done so already, could you send us a feedback report including the log files as seen here so we have more information to see what may cause this then.

Please also add my name and a link to this thread in the description.
