Previous Release / Preview Threads Merged

  • When moving around in my model the movement seems to stutter continuously. Can be very annoying.

I am using Enscape in Revit

    PC - Intel i9 10900KF / 64GB Ram / Nvidia RTX 3080 - Driver 461.40

Please also send us feedback with logs. Please also mention it's about stutter and you were asked to send feedback here :)

  • Hey,

I just updated Enscape. The Restricted mode / Demo mode seems to be gone. Couldn't find any statement/roadmap-article yet.

Will there no longer be a Restricted mode/Demo mode in the future?

Yes - was EXTREMELY handy - we already pay for multiple licenses, and has been of great benefit to allow other users to at least test materials and views, setting them up, so that once ready, the actual renders can be done without the watermarks etc. This is by no means a way to circumvent the license as the watermarks make it useless to create actual renders from.

Please add back in...if not, we may be forced to go back to 2.9 for some users....

  • I could be mistaken, but are the preset views removed?
I do not have a screen on the right in Enscape with all preset views...

With the new UI your favorite views will only be available via the old tab you're used to in .exe Standalones - otherwise, we recommend simply using the view selector itself. We removed the extra tab just to not overload the interface.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. For now, there are no plans to put the restricted mode back in but you can be assured that this will be discussed again with our developers, especially if the demand for it rises with time.

There was a huge benefit with the old view list though: the geometry was not reloaded so it was super fast to switch between positions. Now it seems geometry is reloaded, so depending on the scene things got a lot slower. Many times the geometry between different positions is the same, and reloading it is a complete waste of time.

  • Please add back in the restricted mode.

Will forward your voice as well, thank you very much.

Thank you - the feedback is appreciated. I really can't say if we have any plans to revert this change, but it will be discussed of course. Depending on how many users request this feature back we'll have to think about this more.

Correct, we used the old view list for:
    - quickly navigation through the model to make sure everything is correct before having a VR-sessions with a client or creating a movie.
    - to help navigation around the model during VR-sessions with client or design team
(for instance to show all key points in big projects or relocate to a key point if they are lost in the model)
And yes we prefer to use a live model instead of the Executable.

  • the new view switching is far too slow

    agree with others

The way I would implement this is by introducing a "save enscape scene" button. By default, the position and time of day is saved inside the enscape scene and the geometry would be extracted from the currently active view (the one set in the Enscape toolbar in the host application), but you give an option to link it to a view for the geometry/camera position/time of day.

This would solve a host of problems like

    - the geometry being reloaded unnecessarily (both for regular view switching and batch rendering)

    - polluting the project with views that are just being used for enscape

    - not being able to save sun overrides

    - not being able to update the time of day or position of a saved view

I think this would also be more intuitive for my users and align more with other programs/workflows.

  • Keen to get some user's views on stability, whether it is worth updating at the moment. We have hundreds of staff using Enscape, it is stable and working great, so I'm hesitant to go ahead. The preview wasn't great for us.

Wait and monitor this thread.... a policy for many companies is, or should be, to wait on deployment of new software version for production until a few minor revisions are release... for some companies, a wait period of one year is required after a major X.0 release... your mileage and situation may vary...

So true. I'm part of the viz team, so we usually get going with it immediately, however I know I will have staff hankering to have a go when they see the marketing vids. Suspect we will hold off to first patch at least.
