    What’s included:

There are no new features in this preview release, which address mainly bug fixes and stability improvements.

Your feedback at this stage of development is highly appreciated.

    • UPDATE: Materials should now be available in the new Enscape Material Library.

A full list of Bug Fixes and Known Issues can be found in the attached document. Please refer to the bug's / issue's associated ID number when contacting Enscape Support in relation to any of the listed items.

  • I have the same issue with this preview version as well. When I first press the render button I see the "Starting Enscape..." modal window with 5%, and then it exits. This happens even on a blank Sketchup document.

I am using Sketchup 2018 and an RTX 2070. When I disable "NVIDIA RTX Ray Tracing" it works.

  • My experience was similar to Herbo's with running at the memory limit.

I did not have time to test it again but avoiding Out of Memory issues or even crashes as in my case is really important when sharing with clients where you don't know on what kind of comp it is played back.

  • Copying some questions from the previous thread that I'm still curious about :)

    1) texture offset is not supported: I believe this was supported before, so does this mean we should expect textures to potentially shift when upgrading to Enscape 3.1?

    2) Tint color: in my first tests this seemed to be syncing both ways, but I might be overlooking something. What does "no FULL two-way sync" mean exactly?

    3) What materials don't have a two-way sync? Knowing the exact list here is critical so we don't get caught by surprise.

    4) Not sure what the "edge cases" are that were mentioned as limitations?

  • I just took a minute to test of the newest preview and overall I think this new material library is bringing some great features to program. The two materials I tested out that really looked great in my opinion were the galvanized steel and the fence.

Most of the materials are just basic ones that aren't over the top but are necessary to create a well rounded library. Those types of materials are especially useful for early schematic design, so thank you for adding them.

Unfortunately there are a few materials that I don't think I'd every use because of a sort of pixelated effect that I believe the normal map causes. Without a normal map those textures are bland and I'd be better off using a substance material. One example of this is this dirt material(pictured below).

One of the things I noticed are materials like grass and carpet do not come in knowing they are those materials and need to be changed in the material editor. I hope that will change in the future so it doesn't become cumbersome having to change every material to its specific material type if a project has many different types of grass or carpet for example.

This might be a little early but after seeing this build of the library I really hope it is a requirement for the final roll out to allow users to to share or import their own materials into the library ( and that other people on a shared server can amass a office wide library). This is a good step in the right direction though.

Thank you for trying out the preview! Please make sure to send feedback with the logs so we could have a precise look at what happened!

  • 1) The Enscape material editor does not support editing the texture offset at the moment and will not for 3.1. If you configure a texture offset in the Revit material editor, that will be picked up by the renderer nevertheless.

    2) The tint color in Enscape only tints the texture, the tint color in Revit tints both the texture and the diffuse/albedo color. We try to work around that, but for non-white tint color and image fade less than 100% we can't maintain a perfect 2-way-sync.

    3) Unfortunately that's impossible to know upfront. It looks like Revit checks the whole appearance when changing a single property. There is nothing we can do here. Would you rather expect some kind of error message when that happens?

    4) For example when you change the type to "Water" in Enscape the transparency is no longer synced, because the Enscape water material doesn't support transparency. And there are lots of those unsupported combinations for non-Default material types.

  • 1) Perfect! I was afraid of having textures shifting but sounds like that's not an issue.

    2) Ok gotcha! Very helpful. I would say the combination of image fade + tint is pretty rare luckily.

    3) Yes I would 100% prefer a error message. It would help us file issues that can then later be fixed (now, it feels like there might be issues that cause sync-breaking without people realizing it).

    4) Other than water materials, when is Enscape changing the Revit appearance schema to a non-generic schema?

    • Official Post

dear ENSCAPE 3d team, will you develop some plugin for 3ds max in which I used ENSCAPE 3D rendering instead of Corona or V-ray rendering

At least for now this is not something we have planned for the near future. But, we're aware of the fact that the demand for 3D's support is comparabley quite high. I'll also add your upvote and feedback to the ongoing feature request. :)
