  • great to see all the progress being made! fantastic :)

Can you comment on some of the features that many have asked for before? It seems like a lot is being forgotten or ignored, and new stuff is being added that we've not seen much demand for here on the forum?

    I'm still missing:

    - custom materials in the materials browser.

    - custom materials and colors on the assets (eg. we do not always want a yellow couch)

    - more options for grouping and organizing custom assets.

    - animated assets

    - improvements in reflections (and aproximations for caustics)

    - options to hide geometry or elements from camera, GI, reflections and more

    - revamp of the video editor (that most people find counter intuitive in many ways)

    ... and more :)

  • I strongly Agree ,many of the RECENT updates are actually not worth it , while many of the important things are still missing , even if the size of the software inflates to GIGABYTES , I DONT FIND IT TO BE A PROBLEM IF IT OFFER FEATURES LIKE OTHER SOFTWARES PROVIDE.

    - an option for seamlessly increase the length of rectangular lights and line light would be so helpful , please make is a scalable item.

    - provide an option in which we can make use of the wind in the atmosphere to other elements rather than the tress ( that too only from the asset library).let play with the curtains and wind

    - PROVIDE SOME ANIMATED ASSETS , ITS BEEN AN ETERNITY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING , i have seen no such things in the coming upgrade too

  • We need to make a list of what's called "low hanging fruits" quality of life features. Such features should require minimal amount of developers time but provide huge amounts of improvement. Also, I propose the following format of making suggestions, make the suggestion but also try to give a simple explanation as to how you expect it to work and how easy/hard you think it will be for the developers to make it, I can start:

    View Management

    1. Ability to select multiple views and change their linked visual preset. That would be really useful when you duplicate large amount of views and you need to retain their linked visual preset. Right now when you duplicate views they don't retain the visual preset and you need to manually apply them. This gets hard when you have 5 design options with 10 views each with interior and exterior visual presets.

    Material Management

    1. Take note of how VRay for Revit did it - you can override Revit materials (or select materials to override) with another material. What this allows is to quickly create a new visual preset (similar to how we have Styles, but we're limited to White, Polystyrol and Light view) let's say you want to create a special style to show your model as a maquette/physical model, but you can make it as detailed as you like.

Further to that, it allows to make quick material options. For example, you can floor boards in one view, in next view you override the floor boards to be ceramic tiles, in yet another view you override them to be carpet. This will be a HUGE time saver as you no longer need to duplicate the floor, apply 3 different materials and then hide them in their respecting views.

    Sky/Cloud Management

    1. Really simple - tickbox to allow sun to pass through any clouds. Right now if you want to show clouds in your scene, you get very unpredictable lighting as clouds block the sun with different time settings and different wind speeds. If you want to make it a bit more advanced, make it into 1 tickbox to override so shadows pass completely and 1 slider to make the change the opacity of clouds. We have the density/variety setting for this (kind of) but it's too unpredictable.

    2. Slider for moving clouds irrespective of time of day and wind speed.

    Camera Management

    1. Ability to export/import camera location. This way you can do camera matching in SketchUp and import the camera location into your Revit project and continue work. If anyone wonders how that is possible, it's very simple - export your Revit as .dwg and import into SketchUp (now you're working to the same coordinate system), do camera matching and simply export the camera location through the View Management tab. We already have the Create View, surely Enscape knows the coordinates/view angles of all views and can easily export them to a text file.

    Alpha Channel Export:

You can now export a single (or batch) image rendering in which the skybox of the scene is removed and instead made transparent. This can be configured in the Visual Settings window's Output section for renderings exported as .png, .tga and .exr:

And results in the following output:

Additionally, you can now export a mask that defines what area is considered skybox/background and what area of the rendering is considered actual geometry as part of the composite image export:

    Which yields the following results:

    Pinnable Enscape Windows:

To make it easier to work in single monitor environments we now added the option to "pin" the Enscape window. This will cause it to always appear on top of the host application and can be configured from within the Preference section of the "Enscape Window Settings" (formerly "Renderer Window Settings"):

Revit Synchronize Views & Live Camera:

The ability to synchronize the camera position and orientation from Revit to Enscape has been added and can now ne toggled on/off via the "Synchronize Views" ribbon element. In addition the already existing Revit Live Camera feature has now been moved out of the General Settings window and added to the ribbon section as well.

    Synchronize Views:

While active moving the camera in a Revit 3D view will also lead to a matching camera position and orientation in Enscape. You can change the camera in Enscape independently but the next time you move the camera in Revit, Enscape viewport will immediately assume a matching camera position and orientation again. This is a unidirectional camera sync from Revit to Enscape.

    Revit Live Camera:

While active a camera object will be added to your Revit project which can be moved around manually to influence the camera position and orientation in Enscape. The camera object will always match the camera position and orientation in Enscape so moving around in Enscape will move the camera object within the Revit project as well. This is a bidirectional camera sync and has a negative impact on the performance of Enscape/Revit and also fills up the Revit undo stack. See this link

    for more information.

Any news about fixing (or "downgrading" to what you had previously) with the Space Mouse?

We are aware of this situation.

When removing the old SDK and adding the latest, we expected no bigger issues. But as you know, nothing ever goes as expected. We found some issues. Not on our end but incompatibilities of the SDK with plugins that also want to access a Spacemouse while the host software has access to it.

3DConnexion are right now adapting the API for it.

We are also not happy with it and I hope you understand.

So we have to wait for new drivers from 3Dconnexion to see the situation resolved ??

Well, not exactly. WE are waiting for an update of the SDK so that we can incorporate it.

    Imported Material Indicator

When importing a material from the Enscape material library or via the batch import using local .matpkg's the imported materials will be marked by an orange indicator in the material list section:

This indicator disappears after the host application (CAD) is closed or when the material is selected by the user.

The change is based on user feedback and intended to make it easier to find newly imported materials within large projects.
