  • Dear Forum Community,

    We've just released Enscape 3.4!

Have a look at the blog post showing off the new features and additions in detail.

There are several options to upgrade:

    • Follow the link in your trial registration email
    • Click the update link in the in-program notification
    • Open the "About" window and click the Download Area link

Enscape 3.4 New Features and Updates overview:

Categories for the Custom Asset Library

The Categories for the Custom Asset Library allow you to organize and structure your (imported) custom assets. The categories also let you filter for assets so you can find the one you want within a few clicks, providing you a faster workflow. With every category you create, you give it a name and an icon as well.

    Save Sun Position in Views

This feature allows you to save your sun position in Enscape views. Prior to this, the sun positions you adjusted (through keyboard shortcuts) would reset whenever you restarted Enscape.

Slider controls and input fields are also provided to easily reproduce specific sun positions for other views:

    Update Views

You can now edit the camera position and sun position for existing saved views. Instead of creating new views, you can quickly adjust existing ones, which will save you some additional time.

    Interior Design Assets & Materials

With Enscape 3.4 our main focus is on interior design when it comes to the additional newly added Assets & Materials.

While the assets and materials created will be categorized under interior design, they can also be used for non-interior projects and other use cases. Examples include bathroom accessories such as sinks, bathtubs, faucets, and decoration assets for the living room and bedrooms like picture frames, vases, and cushions.

    Some Examples:

    Improved Reflections

With Enscape 3.4, reflections in windows, interior mirrors, or any other reflective surface will be more complex and show more details by default. On top of that we've also made improvements to our diffuse global illumination system to provide an overall more realistic and natural rendering.

    Before and after (improved reflections):

    Other features

    • Support for Archicad 26
    • Support for Chinese (Simplified) language

    Known issues

Rhino: Crashes can occur when editing the name and the favorite state of a view at the same time. So ideally when changing the view name, do not adjust anything else alongside for the time being. We want to apologize for this inconvenience and are already busy resolving this behavior as quickly as possible.

Make sure to click on the hyperlinks above to get more info about our release and its new features and check out this post.

  • Hello, I am just wondering or suggesting if on this 3.4 version or perhaps future version, the white mode in style be included as channel when style is set to "NONE" mode. Much better if you can add "AMBIENT OCCLUSION" (AO) channel.

Currently to achieve "AO" effect is to render separately White or Polystyrol mode and blend in photoshop.

When this feature is considered, this will save huge amount of time.

    Thank you!

I honestly have no idea what any this means. Sort of daunting or intimidating for me to read.

EDIT: _nique , I have unfortunately spoken a bit too soon. We fixed a similar behavior for another supported CAD solution, but this, unfortunately, did not have an effect on AC as expected.

But of course, we'll investigate further and I'll let you know once our developers have provided further updates, which should be soon.

I keep my fingers crossed! :)
Last year in August we had already contact with the support team about that, but it could not get solved. We would therefor be very happy about a timely fix.

  • Trying it out in Revit 23 on an 80MB file. At anything above DRAFT preview mode, my fast navigation across the model using the SHIFT key is very jumpy. I have an nvidia RTX 2080 Super with 4GB VRAM. It did not behave this way before.

Have submitted feedback through the plugin. Just wanted to see if others were also experiencing this.

  • I honestly have no idea what any this means. Sort of daunting or intimidating for me to read.

To add "AO" effect, White mode style is a good replacement then just use image editing software like Photosomething to blend the layer. Try google "Ambient Occlusion".

  • I'm experiencing sirious crashing when rendering after updating. Not being able to enter rendering mode at all.

Also noticed the Asset Library loading time improvement.

In such a case please kindly provide us with a Feedback report that has your logs attached. This way we can further analyze the cause behind these crashes.

  • There's some weird issue where my color adjusted material is rendering black. I'll send a report and sample. Also, still having to select the material in the material editor, the enscape editor still comes up blank without the selected material showing up. (material browser not syncing to material selection)

Quite frustrated to see this did not get fixed for the release.

  • Development is very disappointing. Still no video editor fix to the shifting duration when the 2nd to last keyframe is adjusted, still no change to visual settings getting overwritten without prompt to save, and now alpha cutout is messed up in reflections. Several other minor issues raised during preview releases also not addressed. What's going on?

  • Quite frustrated to see this did not get fixed for the release.

Why did you down vote my reply to the guy who told me to go google something? What is it that you don't like about the reply, that I've googled it before, or that I didn't find an answer? What are you kind of ganging up on behalf of him, without giving me a response, just a down vote? Because I was responding to him. I've tried to understand "ambient occlusion" for years but never succeeded and it didn't seem necessary to know about it at least with programs I've used, including Enscape. I don't understand Sharpie's request but if 4 people are "liking" it I guess it's a thing. I don't like it when language is so complicated or arcane it's hard to understand. Maybe if I change my avatar to a guy you would respond differently.

  • You probably got flagged for your post because it’s a 10sec exercise to google ‘Ambient Occlusion’ and get 100’s of returns, this image is straight from the Wiki page on AO (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambient_occlusion)

Here’s another of the google returns:

A very basic description of AO is that is creates shadowy areas in creases and grooves etc.

I actually find your reply slightly offensive, did you feel patronised by the positive flags you’ve received on other posts or only angry at this negative one?

  • I did google it. Didn't actually help much. or maybe look at the attached image. your rendering will add more depth and realism when you blend "AO" on it.

It does a lot actually. try searching on web AO on/off comaprison

  • Dear Forum Community,

We've just released the latest Enscape v3.4.1 Preview - Version 1.

    UPDATED:

    View Management (Vectorworks)

    - You can now adjust the camera position and orientation of Vectorworks views.

    - Vectorworks views can now be created directly via the Enscape UI (without opening Vectorworks' view creation dialog).

    - We now support the creation of orthographic Vectorworks views.

    BUGFIXES:

    Incorrect cut-out in reflections fixed

In 3.4 generic materials that used a cut-out texture didn't display correctly when observed in a reflection.

Rhino - Textures Missing in Rhino After Moving Project File

Previously, when moving a project file to a different location (for example a colleague's computer), textures imported from the Enscape Material Library would not be showing in the CAD anymore, only in Enscape.

Please refer to this article for instructions on how to download the Preview version.
