Hello all,
Was just wondering how people best showcase grass as the Enscape grass texture isn't quite satisfactory...
Any hints and tip and examples will be much appreciated.

Check out the existing threads linked by Tearch above - Since everyone's taste differs from person to person, could you perhaps also go into a bit more detail as to why the current grass we provide isn't actually satisfactory? Then I can forward that feedback and discuss it with product management too.
Also, since you are using SketchUp, you may also want to make use of Scatter in combination with the provided Grass-Material we offer specifically for that plugin. Keep in mind that this is the more graphics-intensive solution (also why it offers more complex results), especially compared to the grass we provide, which is developed in a way to offer a good appearance while still running on Low-Medium machines too with acceptable performance.
I believe I aren't getting the satisfactory results in comparison to of render software and it would be great is you could have a bit of differentiation in the grass types. The file used to generate always seems to have a very bulky leaf size.
I have seen people change the enscape grass file out previously and it does look better. That would be great if you could have multiple of them files within one site. (the multi colour grass profile)
Thanks for your response.
Either would be great to see results and listen to any tips.

Well my low machine NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti - 11Gb seems to have trouble to render sa lawn surface for the first time 🤔
SU metrics are good 'mm'
Any suggestion to have this back OK?

Just to make sure, have you made use of Scatter or just tried to use our Grass itself in this particular scene? If it's the latter, can you also send me a screenshot of the grass material settings, please?
Quick image here using Enscape Grass from the Material LIbrary. Personally, this works well for me (obviously might be very different for others) but I can get decent visuals and do not have to bog down my model with unwanted geometry.

What settings and texture have you used here?
Luke.STRI The material is Grass 02 from Enscape Material Library with default settings. I have used a few of the small grass assets from the Enscape Asset Library at the base of the tree's and Pergola as these would naturally be harder to cut and remain a little longer but it also provides some iregularity to the surface.
Essentially, use what you have in Enscape and consider real world details. Scattered geometry in SketchUp, unless completely necassary is a waste of resources and slows your model down considerably

I've made use of the native E3D grass.

Can you share the material settings with me? Judging from just the image it is a bit hard to see what the problem really is even. Is it the color, the length, can you elaborate on that briefly what's missing to you? Depending on the time of day, the grass being that bright should also be normal.

Hi Damien,
Thanks for your ongoing support.
USING the 330-P7
See attach' pls. Some parts don't even have grass on the surface.
There seems a bug in the the 330-p7 version... Hope this helps?
Looking at the 'problem' example images, do you have gradients (hills) etc.?
I know that grass textures can work brilliantly on flat surfaces but struggle somewhat on slopes and uneven surfaces.
Hello,
I am trying to use one of the grass materials from the Enscape library and it was working fine and the grass was realistic and 3D, now all of a sudden it's just a flat block with no texture to it. I checked my grass/carpet rendering settings and nothing is seeming to work and this is true for all of the grass materials
**I fixed it by inserting my own height map
timeless , you used the report function to reply, but this isn't visible here - I think you want to use the quote function instead.
No biggie!
OOPS - Sorry for that Demian Gutberlet
UPDATE the grass grows as expected in v3.3, released earlier today
