Enscape under macOS Ventura: a troubleshooting guide

Due to recent changes in the Gatekeeper service made by Apple in the MacOS 13 Ventura update, users may experience an unexpected behavior when opening Enscape via SketchUp for the first time after the system has been updated. You may be presented with a system error message that reads:

“´EnscapeApplication´ is damaged and can´t be opened. You should move it to the Bin.”

Please rest assured that Enscape is not damaged, and will run normally. Our developers are working on a fix for this issue according to the new Gatekeeper rules.

In order to remove the notification, please click “Cancel” and open the main system settings. There, select “Privacy & Security” in the left column and then scroll down to “Security” in the right part of the window. You will find an entry that says “´EnscapeApplication´ was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer”. Please click “Open Anyway” and enter your administrator password in the following step to unlock and apply this setting.

Next, please restart SketchUp and select “Open” in case you should be presented with a similar notification as in the initial step to activate Enscape. One more restart of SketchUp may be necessary after that.

From our experience, it is necessary to perform this workaround once if the issue comes up. Restarting SketchUp or the computer should preserve this setting. Should you have questions or issues with this process please contact us again.

Should you have questions or issues with this process please kindly create a new thread or contact me through a direct message.

This behavior has been resolved with our latest (hotfix) release!
