  • Looking for a recommendation for a new PC that with a great graphics card AND the ability to handle very large vectorworks files. We currently use a decent gaming pc with a great graphic card but it struggles with large vectorworks files. Any recommendations?

Hi charlesdoell - Thanks a lot for your patience.

Can you let me know which graphics card is built into the gaming PC you mention? For very large scenes we generally reccomend the lineup 3xxx lineup from NVIDIA starting in this case with the RTX 3080 (Ti) - RTX 3090 (Ti) depending on your budget. The more VRAM the better here.

Does the machine also struggle still if you reduce the Rendering Quality in our Visual Settings to High instead of Ultra? How large are the project files you are using? And is there maybe a chance you are using high-quality (and thus perhaps also high poly) third party 3D models instead of our Enscape Assets?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Thanks, Demian...the pc has a the following- so I think my problem is it can't handle the vectorworks large files and is super buggy when using vectorworks alone. My mac does not have the same issues, which is why I am looking for a new pc that will handle the vectorworks part and have a great graphics card

MAINGEAR F131 Mk. III | Black
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
Guardians of the Galaxy Game Code (While Supplies Last)
    AMD RYZEN 5 5600X - 6-Core - 3.7 GHz (Boosts to 4.6 GHz)
    AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler
    ASRock X570M Pro 4
    8GB Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 3200MHz (2x4GB)
    EVGA 750W SuperNOVA B2
    Microsoft Windows 11 Home
    512GB Intel 660p
  • Is that the specs of your current PC or one you are planning on buying?

    • 8GB of memory is woefully small, in my opinion in 2023 you need no less than 32, I’ve recently upgraded mine to 64.
    • I don’t know if VW is multi core (SketchUp isn’t) but if it is then it would benefit from a better processor, maybe a Ryzen 7. Intel are still the better single core performers.
    • 512gb of storage will get consumed quicker than you think, think about a 250GB SSD for you boot/os/software (C drive) and a 1 or 2TB HD to store your files(D drive). Separating your stuff from everything else is never a bad idea.
    • The 3080 is about a good as you can get, the 40series are better but not yet on a bang for buck basis.
  • I’ve always built my own so can’t really recommend a built one, sorry.

There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with your current spec apart from the memory, why don’t you speak to Maingear and get a 32GB upgrade kit and see if that’ll fix things for you before you spend $$$$$.
