  • Hi,

I have installed Enscape on a mac but cannot find the extension on Skecthup.

I did allow Enscape as described here : WORKAROUND: macOS 13 Ventura "“EnscapeApplication” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin."

    Mac spec :

    Mac os 13.0.1 (22A400)

    2,6 GHz Intel Core i7

GPU AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 Go

    16 Go 2667 MHz DDR4

    Sketchup Pro 2022 Version 22.0.353

I have deleted sketchup (full delete with cleaner app) and start over the installation but still do not see anything

Do you have any idea what could cause this issue ?

    Thank you,

    JF

  • I got latest vision of Enscape for Mac and SketchUp 2022, But Enscape does not appear in SketchUp 2022, Either in View dropdown menu or in Extensions. I tried to open it from Application, then I got the notification that says 'EnscapeApplication' is damaged. I have tried the workaround from this post WORKAROUND: macOS 13 Ventura "“EnscapeApplication” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin." , but it still does not work. Please help.

Thanks a lot for your reports Henry Zhang and jflenel - I'm sorry to hear about this issue.

In order to investigate this issue, we would need to receive the Enscape logfiles from your machine. To send us your log files manually you will have to make hidden files visible in the Finder. To do this make sure that you are in the Finder (see if “Finder” is written in the top left, next to the Apple symbol) and hit “Command” + “Shift” + “.” together once.

Then go to Macintosh HD -> users -> [your user folder] -> Library -> Application Support -> Enscape -> Data -> Logs

Please copy the files/most recent file in this folder and send them/it to me/us via uploading it with your next reply or via an e-mail to support@enscape3d.com, briefly including some context alongside.

After you have send the log file to us you can set the visibility of hidden files back to its usual state by pressing “Command” + “Shift” + “.” together once more while in the Finder. Hidden files should now be invisible again.

I appreciate your time and thanks a lot again in advance for your cooperation.

Yes correct. I'm installing with the .pkg file. there is no .dmg

That is why receiving the log files at hand would still be great. We're currently investigating this issue which seems to affect some users, so your cooperation would be appreciated as detailed in my post above.

Hi Demian Gutberlet i sent the log file yesterday to mailbox you mentioned. Do you need me to poste it here too ?

    Thanks

    JF

Perfect, I was not aware you've already sent everything in as requested, we appreciate it! One of my colleagues has already assigned the case to himself so there isn't anything else you have to do at this point - We've also already troubleshooted this further internally and it seems to be caused by an unresolved bug on Macs running Ventura that can cause software to suddenly stop working. Since we're still investigating, more info may be shared soon by me as well.

In the meantime it seems that our hands are tied unfortunately - A dedicated complete re-install of SketchUp can sometimes help, but as you've already said that did not do the trick. As the bug does not seem to lay in Enscape, but in the Mac OS itself, at least the update 13.1 should resolve this by then.

    I'll keep you posted.

  • something similar just happened to me - i downloaded the file they sent and it won't install on my Mac! I emailed help....

then i downloaded the Mac version from the site and not seeing anywhere to enter a key to activate it? thanks.

Recently purchased Enscape and having the same issue with it however my device is running Monterey instead of Ventura. Any fixes?

Thank you for the report - We are still looking into this issue, and since you experience this in Monterey as well, please follow the instructions I shared in my reply above:

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Are your still generally able to see Enscape (the ribbon and such) in your CAD solution, or is that also not working? If you wish to just activate your license, then check out this knowledgebase article here as well.

  • Hi Demian,

I've tried your suggestion above looking at Application Support etc...but there's no actual Enscape folder in there to find the data or logs. Weirdly the trial version works fine on my laptop so tried that file on my main comp (as I know it worked) but that didn't do anything either.

MacBook Pro is running Big Sur and iMAC is running Monterey 12.6 so also don't have the Ventura issue.

Hello again, I've been checking through my files and I hope this is the one you were looking for. The issue is that while the initial installation was successful, Enscape does not register as an extension of Sketchup whether in the Tool Palette or the Extension Manager. Tried re-installing both Enscape and Sketchup Pro 2022 and did the same on other machines as well but nothing's worked so far. Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you both - If you cannot locate any logs and/or only that one file, then no problem. We'll look into this further and I'll get back in case I require any further information from you.

Hi Demian Gutberlet do you have any news on this issue ?

    Thank you.

Hi Demian Gutberlet, Have you any update on the issue with the Mac installation?

    Thanks.

If you haven't received this information from our support before by any chance, allow me to forward this information from our Mac specialist:

There can be a problem with the initial install caused by the lack of some Apple software that should normally come with new Macs or fresh installs of the system. The software is called Rosetta 2 and it basically translates the Enscape programming code into the newer correct code for the OS. The upcoming universal version of Enscape will be written in new code.

A notification should actually come from the system itself as to whether Rosetta 2 should be installed as soon as Enscape is started.

There are three cases which are problematic:

    1) The system message may be ignored - This should still mean that once SketchUp + Enscape are restarted the system dialogue occurs again.

    2) If the process is being allowed, Rosetta will load and install (which may take a little while depending on internet connection and Mac performance), then restart SketchUp and it should work

    3) There may be NO notification (unfortunately this can happen). Since Rosetta 2 can't be downloaded as an installer file and the notification doesn't appear and you want to install it manually, you have to do it through the command line tool using the following prompts: softwareupdate --install-rosetta

If that doesn't explain it or help, please let me know. Thank you in advance.
