I would like to use Enscape as a lighting designer to show as realistic lighting scenes as possible. The issue is Enscape takes into account the 3D geometry of the light, an IES file has already taken this into account, therefor when rendering anything other than a downlight (bollard, pendant, etc) weird shadows are created and the light is not accurately rendered. Im suprised this happens as it can really mess up a render. It would be great if Enscape would have it so that 3D geometry within a lighting family could be ignored when raytracing the light. This is how other applications such as Elumtools works and renders a more accurate.

Welcome to our Forum.
To see this behavior in context with your models (3D geometry) could you kindly share a few screenshots of it? I'd appreciate that in order to forward this to our developers as well. Thank you in advance.

Isn’t SheaGs description the expected behavior of Enscape… that IES lights have no method to ignore any geometry?

Pardon me, I must've misunderstood something at first but indeed, there is currently no method available to allow lights to ignore geometry in Enscape. Your post is appreciated.
@SheaG, I'll make sure to forward this inquiry of yours to our developers/product management as well.

I recall this has been asked already on this forum (a way to disallow the geometry of a light fixture to cast shadows.) I recall being able to do this in Lightscape back in the day, and many other modern programs have this ability. There are a number of things related to lighting visibility (like what to do with reflections) that could use a few more controls in Enscape and this ability would be a top priority for me as well.
