Enscape 3.5 Released

  • Dear Forum Community,

    We've just released Enscape 3.5!

With this version we're bringing adjustable assets, multibounce global illumination (GI) and over 40 digital humans to anyone working in Revit, SketchUp, Archicad, Rhino or Vectorworks.

Check out the thread below for further information and refer to our comprehensive blog article here!

There is also an ongoing "Exteriors in Nature" rendering contest you can participate in here.

    Adjustable Assets

One of Enscape’s biggest user requests is now available in 3.5. With adjustable assets, designers can start customizing materials, colors and more for an initial batch of entourage, making it easier to dial in the right feeling for their 3D scenes. These adjustments cover:

    • Materials — Users can adjust the materials and colors of 100 furniture items and accessories, as well as one article of clothing for 40 human assets.
    • Vehicle Colors — 91 vehicles can be customized using a color palette or via a HEX code.
    • Asset Variants — Some assets include alternate options/variants, including 105 autumnal trees, 120 unpotted plants, 55 sport props, 25 street props and more.
    • Multi-Asset Editing — Adjustments also come in the form of multi-selections. This is especially useful when a user wants to delete multiple scene assets at one time.
    • Non-adjustable assets have been added, as well, including five dogs, nine trees, 22 interior assets and 93 unscanned people.

    Scanned People

Starting in January, Enscape’s internal scanner has been creating exclusive digital humans to help architects easily add realistic people to 3D environments. With Enscape 3.5, the total has grown to 93 exclusive assets, 40 of which allow for clothing customization. This library will continue to get more diverse over time. Plans are also in place to start scanning more animals and helpful objects using the same technology.

    More Realistic Indirect Lighting

Enscape 3.5 marks the debut of the new global illumination algorithm, which provides improved lighting, reflections and rendering quality to users with GPUs built for ray-tracing. Architects will especially notice these improvements in enclosed or sun-shadowed scenes, mirrors and semi-transparent materials like frosted/tinted glass. It’s also easier to make infinity mirror effects for any visualization in need of a beloved optical illusion.

    Additional Features and Improvements Include:

Semi-Transparent Material Exports — To help artists prep window and glass materials for post-processing, Enscape 3.5 now includes a semi-transparent material capability in the Alpha Channel Export feature.

Orthographic Views Update for Revit — Any orthographic view created or modified in Enscape will now display the same view in Revit for added consistency as architects move back and forth between the programs.

Better Layer Assignments in Rhino — When placing assets in Rhino or Enscape, they will be added to a selected layer, making for easier organization. Their visibility can also be filtered for faster decision-making.

New User Area in Toolbar — Users can now access their account from the Enscape toolbar, giving them quick access to license information, an upload manager and their panorama galleries.

Certified SpaceMouse Support — The popular 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse is not only supported in Enscape 3.5, but can be customized through shortcut buttons on the mouse.

Revit 2024 Support — Enscape 3.5 is fully integrated with Revit 2024, helping designers easily incorporate all the latest features.

  • Hello there, cool for the new upgrade but 3DCONNEXION still doesn't work on Revit 2022 with all the latest software, lock horizon is not working and the other modes are not working either.

    Hi alakalelele,

Sorry to hear you are running into some issues!

Enscape 3.5 should be working just fine with Revit 22, we support versions 21-24. Does it show up at all in 22? Can you send over some screen grabs?

Can you please let me know and send over some screen grabs of the other modes that are not working as well?

  • For those that will need help in the future; the full path is C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\3Dconnexion\3DxWare

And you need to right click on the icon of the 3dconnexion and click the write log file button.

  • hello, running into an issue when trying to load models created using previous version into 3.5. Tried all three options in the error message below, no luck (including updating the drivers) so far (report response pending). Have found in a limited capacity, if I systematically replace material definitions, I can get a model to work. Also, any new model generated and used first in 3.5 work just fine. Please advise, thanks!

I'm sorry to hear about that. Right away, have you already gotten a reply back from our technical support team and in any case, can you let me know which e-mail you've used to submit the report? (Via a direct message ideally) Trying to locate it via the e-mail used to log into this forum yields no results, so thanks a lot in advance.

Also, last but not least even though we can see that in the report too, which main GPU specifically are you trying to use with Enscape?

    Hi Demian,

    May 22nd Incident number 118384:

    Hi Adrian,

Thank you for your updated logs, and I'm sorry to hear this is still occurring!

We're currently investigating this as a possible bug in 3.5, as we've seen many reports with this same issue. We've alerted our developers and will be working to make this a top priority to fix.

In the meantime, our current workaround is to downgrade to Enscape version 3.4.4 where this is not present. We've also added this case to our trackers to notify you when there's a fix available.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you in advance!

    May 19th (same ticket):

    Thank you for contacting us.

Could you please perform a clean installation, to do so, please:

    - Navigate to Add/Remove programs in Windows.

    - Uninstall Enscape by using the 'Uninstall' button

    - Following the completion of the uninstall, please delete the following directories:

    C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Enscape

    C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Enscape

    C:\Program Files\Enscape

Then, reboot your machine, and re-install our latest release as found here once more, this time for "all users" as seen here.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, could you please send me a new feedback report, including the log files as seen here, and add your email address in the feedback report as well, so we may connect the provided data to this ticket.

  • Thanks a lot! I've removed your e-mail again for confidentially reasons but appreciate the information - In this case (as per e-mail) you'll receive a reply back once our developers were able to get behind this problem, as your case specifically is also already forwarded to them for troubleshooting.

Two more inquiries from my side in the meantime:

If there is a chance for you to share the scene with me in which this occurs then that would be great, as per my last reply I can then provide a confidential upload link - Especially if this occurs in specific scenes or only this project, otherwise do you experience this even in something like an empty, or almost empty project?

Once again thank you for in advance for any further replies.

  • are you asking for the 3dm file when you say scene?

I experience this issue when using any model that has materials created prior to installing 3.5.

Not every material type seems to trigger it, but definitely more than a few. I am trying to ascertain whether this is caused by it being a legacy material, or a failed link to a reference jpg, or rhino mats vs enscape mats, etc and have been going through them one at a time trying to nail down the culprit. Everything in this file worked flawlessly in 3.4.4. You can see in the command prompt reference to "updating from version 3 to 4" on several materials, so I have started with those (going to take some time though as I need to rebuild them in 3.5, then reapply them). So far that seems to be working as anything created natively in 3.5 has no issue. Just, going to take a lot of reworking that, you know, would be better not to have to do ;).

  • amcdermott , pardon for causing confusion, I did refer to the 3dm file indeed, but in this case it won't be necessary. :)

I'll attach your additional feedback for our developers to be visible to make sure we're not overlooking anything. Thank you, and as mentioned we'll get back to you via the case itself after investigating.

  • Hello Forum,

in earlier Versions it was possible to use Enscape an different PCs (not at once of course, but with deactivating the licence and activating on the next PC). Is this really gone with V 3,5?

EDIT: When we remove the licence on PC 1, it is still active - Enscape runs. When i type in the licence on PC 2, nothing happens. Enscape is not running.

    Greetings, Peter
