Enscape / Revit / Dynamo - growing some trees

This Dynamo script that i made, will place trees in a specific area

(i am not a Dynamo expert so the script can probably be optimized or shortened)

Draw a spline, this spline does not need to be closed

Open the script and select the spline.

the seed you probably don't need to adjust. Only if you have a very large area.

The distance between trees, determines the density of your trees.

Then you can select what kind of trees you want placed.

there are two items that need some attention. Autumn are all the trees in there autumn coat.

Ground coverage will place all bushes and small trees below the small trees, The ground coverage will have a smaller distance between them then the trees, it is set to one third.

Then just run the script and see your forest. It is not possible to scale the trees, but they are rotated

Dynamo script - grow a tree

I made them with dynamo 2.02 and revit 2019.3

so maybe the difference is the dynamo version, but that would be a bit strange

are you sure you are running 2.02 and not 1.34

That node is from a package called Orchid.

Sp you need to install that package.

if your lucky you can install it here - search for package- but most of the time this doesn't work..

then go to https://dynamopackages.com/

go to search package and sort by name

find the package and unzip it in the folder

C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Dynamo\Dynamo Revit\2.0\packages

maybe you need to turn on hidden items in your explorer.

restart Revit and it should be fine.

Also make sure you have all trees loaded in your project, they should be in your project browser

if that doesn't work, i could change the script so it uses some python code..

i changed the script with that Python node, if you download this one then you probably don't have to install the Orchid package.

Makes it more easy for everyone

please give me feedback on things you like to change...personally i was thinking of also having the possibility of adding some rocks.

ground foliage has 3 times more points then the trees...i thought to make the rocks just 1/3 of the amount of trees when selected..

I had some last fine tuning that needed to be done, but the final version is ready.

The packages used at the moment are:

If Equal Return Index Updated version: 1.2.0

Data-Shapes version: 2019.2.40

Orchid version: 210.0.0.7072

Clockwork for Dynamo 2.x version: 2.1.2

i will try to use as much standard nodes as i can, so i will go over the script one more time

I think it has something to do with the new dynamo and the update in the datashape nodes
