Hi Team,
Any chance we might be able to export an alpha channel from the render image function? this would be ideal for photo-montaged high res backgrounds which can be difficult to control within Enscape

ash@hierarchy , that has been requested before, I'll happily upvote the corresponding already existing feature request on our agenda through your voice! Thanks for your feedback.

Added, thanks a lot!
Any progress on this? Exporting renders with Alpha channels is an important part of most people's work flows.

+1 - is there a way Version 2.8 can include this feature? It would be VERY helpful with workflow

I really wonder why this is’nt implemented, especially when architects seems to be your main customers.
It’s quite counter-productive (and hard) to manuel select and add masks in photoshop.
It works out of the box in Vray (but Vray has other drawbacks).
But it might be hard / complicated to implement? – I’m not a programmer

Its not hard to create a background mask, but if you are after the background to be visible through openings, windows, etc., this process won't work. On render visual setttings, under capture, click the box to export depth channel, object id etc. Set the camera crop at a distance beyond the foreground you want. Render as you usually would. There will be a depth channel created. Use that as a layer mask in photoshop. Not too roundabout, but a step or two more, still not perfect. I would definitely vote for an alpha channel.
Hi Robertpolk
I know what I can do with alpha, depth material id maps, but what I would prefer is just a png with the alpha channel in the file - and as you say, it won't work for windows.
It really makes things easier just having one layer in photoshop, especally when i need to scale the layer to fit into a photo, not a really big deal, and I can live without it, but it would make things easier.

Jorgensen,
I agreed completely. It would be nice to have the integral alpha channel as I said, and my comment was intended for ash@hierarchy with no intent on assuming either of you didn't already know to do this.
Robert
Ok Robertpolk
sorry I misunderstood you.
Thank you all for your feedback, I'm afraid at the moment there are no concrete plans yet to implement this, but be assured that all your votes are taken into account.
+1 for implementing - this is really impeding productivity when doing a just small change for a batch of 20 renders, especially when material transparencies are in play.
