Are there any future plans or discussions regarding the possibility of batch rendering (and perhaps txt or email notification of batch processing completion)?

Batch rendering capability

mannyl , what exactly would you like to batch render, because you already have the ability to batch render images. All you have to do is to simply go into the view selector of Enscape and mark any views/scenes from which you want to create a rendering as favorite, and then just press the button marked orange on the right bottom corner:
If you already discovered this functionality, you probably want to batch render something else? If so, kindly let me know what you're referring to.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Demian, this is exactly what I need. I was not aware of this feature. I just tested it and it works beautifully! Thank you for highlighting it for me!

Happy to hear that, you're very welcome.

The batch render feature is nice, but it has a flaw: It takes the geometry is active from the first view and keeps it even if other geometry/objects are on/off or changing scale. I'm working on an animation of a curtain going up while the camera is moving, but when I use the favorite batch render the curtain stays down. So I have to manually render each frame, which is a somewhat dreary task!
Otherwise, Enscape is great. It has really changed the ballgame for me visualizing my work!

Could you briefly guide me through the SketchUp procedure when it comes to "animating" the curtain? I'm not entirely sure which tools you're using for that; also, when you switch between the different views, do they take the changes into account, but just not when you use the batch render tool, did I understand that correctly?
-
I'm using Keyframe Animation 2.1 from Regular-Polygon. http://regular-polygon.com/keyframe-animation/. This plugin works by generating "tweens" for object transformations/camera moves with several scenes.
Enscape does not take the changes into effect when Batch Rendering, but it does when switching normally between views.

Demian Gutberlet I would like to batch render stereoscopic images (Cardboard Panorama). I don't believe it is possible to do this in batch?
Also, the name Cardboard panorama is unclear. It is a stereoscopic image.
-
I may be mistaken, but a stereoscopic image just means two versions of a 2D image, slightly different and seen independently by each eye to give the illusion of 3D.
This can apply to just about any image; flat, static, panorama, video, ... and just about any way of viewing them; colour split, shuttered, split-screen, polarised, ...
The term "Cardboard" refers to the split-screen method of stereoscopic imaging (that google have hi-jacked and called "Google Cardboard") and "panorama" refers to a 360º image; I can think on a few clearer ways of describing it, but "stereoscopic image" would not be among them.
-
samuelab - Correct, batch rendering of panoramas is currently not possible. We do have a feature request though regarding this and I have up-voted that on your behalf.
CMacWilkins - that looks interesting, although it also looks like a pretty time consuming way to achieve animation, but I guess that's better than nothing. Can you provide me with a small sample project that I can then attach to a feature request? I'm installing Key Animation now to take a look. Thanks.
-
CMacWilkins I took a quick look at this. If you favorite all the Tweens that Keyframe Animation creates, then you can Favorite these Views and Batch Render them that way. Of course, you would have to composite these in post, but that's actually a nice little bit of software to create animation in SU via Enscape.

<shrug> the intended use was/is for clients to view the panoramas on their phone: anywhere, any time. The 3D experience with a cheap bit of cardboard and their own phone rather than an expensive bit of tech.
You could replace the goggles logo with the lettering "3D", but the goggles icon is synonymous with viewing a 3D image (Also note that the hover help states that it "creates a 360º stereo image for Google Cardboard"). Can I ask what other platforms/devices/programs make use of this 3D export? (rather than a standard 360º panorama)

Oculus Go is the good version of Cardboard/GearVR and perfect for 360 images.
Oculus Quest is the fancy version that does some 3D and is spatial, so a bit overkill for just 360 images, but then you can also use a software like IrisVR on it, which you cannot do on the Oculus Go.
Cardboard is so uncomfortable physically and optically that it poisons the VR well and should be avoided at all cost.
-
My recommendation for most Enscape 360 users is to get an Oculus Go and use Yulio.com to present the images. If you want to get all fancy and do real 3D on IrisVR as well, then get the Oculus Quest.
Also, the Quest will soon have a wire that makes it into a full VR headset for desktop. Very versatile!

There are also intentions to make it a wireless headset in the long term.

It is a nice little plugin, but in my experience Enscape takes whatever is on in the first animation frame and each subsequent frame does not change which layers are on or off. This is true for layers, sun position, hidden objects, etc. Can Enscape's Favorited views respect each scene's settings and not just camera position?
-
Sun position (time of day) is changeable per keyframe, as is FOV and DOF, but object geometry (and layers) currently remain as they are when you click "go" to render.
-

CMacWilkins Version 2.7 Views will respect geometry.

Just rendered 44 panoramas this afternoon. Would be a nice upgrade to include the option of render a panorama of all favorited scenes as batch process, as also to mass download them from the panoramas tab from the Manage Upload console, including a named basis option.

Thank you - definitely a few points which have been requested before, which is why I'll gladly add your upvote/feedback to the existing requests on our agenda.
