I'm curious: what use would you put it to?

Why wouldnt they just extend to match the size of the actual rectangular light... How it currently is is pretty annoying.... I end up having to make large light arrays in rhino.
-
jgould Do you mean the light distribution isn't like expected if the light size is larger than 3m? So far I understand rectangular light based on a kind of point lights, but maybe the RTX technology allow to implement better looking area lights. What do you think Simon Weinberger ?

Micha Light distribution of area lights is different from that of point lights. I don't have any deep insights into why the limitation exists but I'm pretty sure it is a combination of performance and correctness considerations.
RTX by itself does not allow anything that wasn't possible before, it is just a performance improvement that allows us to do more/better calculations without affecting user experience.

At one of the RTX videos I heard something about better and noise free area light shadows and so I hoped, this could be implement to Enscape too.

If I could make emitters invisible, than I could use emitters. My clients like to get large interior spaces rendered and without visible light source I need to bring light to specific areas. It could be great to switch area lights in a hidden emitters mode, maybe per naming.

It would also be great to get some feedback as to whether this is even a remote possibility (invisible emitters) From memory when this has been requested in the past it seemed as though this was not going to happen.
Thanks!
