Hume , the preview version may be unstable on some systems at the moment. To identity the cause behind this, could you kindly send in a dedicated feedback report as described here? Please also include your forum name in the submission form. This will transfer log files and machine information to us which should give us further clues why Enscape is crashing. 
I suppose, our release version works fine on your machine though?
The 2.6 preview was crashing my scenes quickly also. I'll look into sending the feedback report when I get back in the office. I see a new release version hit the shelves yesterday....I reckon I will give that a go. thanks!
I also installed 2.5.3 release and everything is stable. Made it through a client pres yesterday and todo bien.
I also have been experiencing crashes with the preview versions lately. can't use the video editor. 1st enscape crash then sketchup crashes.
loaded ver 2.5 stabil build. work so far.
When I get a minute I will try to recreate the crashing I was having so I can submit it. No issues until I tried to export a movie. It would get halfway through and crash on several attempts. I eventually gave up on the movie I was doing. Exteriors worked fine but for some reasons all the interior ones were crashing (which makes no sense to me?)

Receiving a feedback report would be great! Even if you haven't experienced these crashes in a while, your feedback log files should give us further information as to why Enscape is not functioning as it should.
