I've filed your inquiry as a feature request accordingly. In the meantime, make sure to save frequently.
Even if you only save your path once while being half finished, you'd still not loose all progress altogether if you forget to save. -
Back in June last year: "I find it strange that Enscape does not save the path automatically when you [leave] the video editor (and that it does not save/load it with the model)"
