Is there a way to apply the Polystyrol material to individual objects in a scene (working in SketchUp). Id like to do a hybrid rendering where some of the building are in the white Polystyrol material and the highlighted building I'm working on is in full color. I'm sure I could just apply a white material to everything, but the Polystyrol would look really cool.

Is about being able to overwrite materials, having include/exclude lists etc. I think it would allow for what you're after.

I don't think an include exclude list would work inside SketchUp as easily as it might in Revit or even Rhino. An easier way would be to have the ability to name a material "Polystyrol" and have it render as such.

Ted.Vitale If you use a lot of materials it should be easier for SketchUp as well to exclude just selected materials than to name everything "Polystyrol".

Is there a setting where everything is white (like using White Mode) but, all material textures still render?
(ie. I want a very simple rendering, but I still want my ceiling tile to show the bump image to give the impression of grid)

dobrodrummer bump images/maps and colored glass are displayed in white mode. Tiles are currently not supported but on our agenda.

True, but it would also be incredibly useful if that was one of the recognized material terms in the Enscape for SketchUp material naming conventions.

Does the bump image need to be really high for it to register? I've moved it up above 100 and once I switch to White Mode everything goes flat.
-
dobrodrummer a bump amount of 100 with an bump image with good contrast should work well in white mode. In my example I had a bump amount of around 500 I think in order to make my point.
Could you share a screenshot of the scene?
Ted.Vitale It's already on our agenda and we will search for the best solution.

Jonathan Knoefel +1 Every new type of material is a step forward for design visualization. Since the nice material is available for the "polystyrol" mode, I hope it will not need one year again to release it as a standard material.

I think vray does this in a very versatile way.
They have 2 settings for the override
- material to override with (so you can make everything white, grey, cardboard, ...)
- materials to exclude from override OR materials to include for override
This way you can select a few items not to override (for example when you're doing massing study and you want to override everything with white except the red/blue/green masses). Or you can override just a few materials that are messing up your rendering (for example all the materials in the survey file to white).
