Visual Settings - Save? Where did they go?

  • Morning! Love the new update, and apologies if this has been covered already. I see the split menu now used for the Visual & General Settings, but I'm a bit confused. In Revit.... Where did the ability to Save a setting go??? it used to be a drop-down at the top of the Settings menu. I can see where i can Import a Legacy Setting (under General > Settings Management), but not Save??? (works fine, btw)... Is this a bug or in further development?

I do a lot of renderings where i need to do stills of varying times of day, such as 9 am vs noon vs 8 pm twilight, field of view, atmosphere, etc. along with other setting changes. I would highly prefer to not have to write these down. Can you please add this in the next update or point me where it's hidden? Thanks!!

Hello Kyle.Paxton , thanks a lot for your post. :)

Simply open the Visual Settings, click on Presets on the top left of the window, then, hovering your mouse over the Save Presets option will provide two options:

Save To Project (default) – which will save the settings to the currently opened project, whilst also adding them to the Manage Presets list.

Save To File – which will save the settings as .json file.

Further, as has always been the case, the time of day setting is always saved in your corresponding Enscape View, not in the Settings which you access via the Visual Settings dialogue. :)

It is, as you mentioned, also possible to import legacy Settings Presets from versions of Enscape prior to version 2.6. This can be done by opening the General Settings window, and then clicking on the Settings Management option, whereby you will see the Legacy Import button.

This will then open the Legacy Settings Import window that lists all the legacy Settings Presets that are available. Simply click to highlight one of the settings from the list and then the Import button will become available.

All imported legacy settings will then automatically be assigned to the relevant settings window in Enscape 2.6, whether that is the General or Visual Settings. You can then save these settings either to a file, or as being bound to a project, as is already set out above

I feel it would be easier if it was saved in the Enscape settings (or at least we had an option to do so).

I understand why initially you went with saving it in the view, but the reality is that we typically set up our camera first, don't want to lose it so we 'create a view', but after that we will make a lot of tweaks to the lighting and time of day. When we are done, it would be very helpful if we could just hit a button 'save settings' and it would remember all of it. Now we basically need to 'recreate the view' just to save Time of Day (although the position hasn't changed), and then save the settings, and later match the right settings with the right view. It's not very intuitive.
