You can use any HDRI, don't need true skybox
andrewm4351 actually you can use any image type, longitude latitude skybox or cross format skybox. All you need to take care of is that the aspect ratio is as close as possible to 1:2 or 3:4 for Enscape to recognize what type it is.
Hi
I use custom skyboxes - a great feature would be to change the height (as well as the rotation)
of the built in backrops and custom skyboxes for added realism of horizon position.
+1 for height and rotation
I use this option at Vray often. Height can be used with light shift only, but it's definitely useful.
Yes +1 for height adjustment
+1 for height adjustment.
+1 for height and leveling adjustment.
+1 f0r height adjustment
+1 for height adjustment
Im trying to load a skybox of the actual street of my project by creating a image with Street View Download 360, have anyone tried that? I can load the image, but the proportions is not very good. So I would like to be able to change the size of the skybox (I guess that's what you other mean by "height adjustment"). So +1 for me too

There is little you can do if the skybox contains objects that are very near to the camera. The skybox is used as an infinitely far away box (hence the name SKY box). If the sky then contains objects that are pretty near and behave as if they are very far away, it will always look implausible.
What we can do (and probably will) is a morphing of the horizon height, which can be useful if you capture the skybox at a different height level than when you use it for rendering.
Some years before I did an experiment - I mapped a HDRI to a deformed sphere and this special environment gave me some advantages (...). Maybe this could be done here too. The trick could be to use a sphere object with a high poly count. If the poly count is high enough than Enscape skip the sphere for the GI calculation (that's the reason why I add low poly covers around complex interior models). So, you could get an easy to manipulate background sphere and lighting by the Enscape skybox.
I'm not sure about the polygon count limit, at my tests some months before it was nearly 50.000. Any shell over 50.000 could be skipped during GI calculation.
(attached the old screenshot from the experiment)
Thats a workaround for the distortion i mentioned but occludes the sun. You could export the distorted one to an Enscape panorama and load that as a skybox. Then you have true sky lighting from it.
I wonder if this works ? cause I don't see any proper mapping system in revit as the other 3d software does
Hello all-
I am a drone operator with a customer that is requesting 360 panoramic images for skybox. I originally shot the sequences with 3:4 aspect ratio as they gave me the option between 3:4 or 2:1, my bird isn't capable of shooting 2:1. After they received the images their seems to be an issue with the 3:4 aspect not being compatible without several hours of photoshop post production to achieve 2:!? Anyhow, I could use a little education on what I'm missing, from what I've read about enscape/skybox is that it should recognize 2:1 or 3:4?
Thanks in advance!
Frank
Just open in photo editing app and change the aspect ratio to 2:1. If the original image is 3000 x 4000 change to 2000 x 4000.
