ENSCAPE SET SUN POSITION/ SET CAMERA POSITION

    nwergin , we stepped over the features for setting the sun settings and camera position of saved views. We realized that these features are not working consistently or intuitively with every CAD, which is why we decided to remove them in the 2.7 release as the functionality itself is not lost. :)


    You can still access the source view and change the camera position or sun settings afterwards. Still, we are aware that some of our users will miss these features. Feel free to give us feedback on your use cases and the frequency in your usage so that we can evaluate further changes.

    Demian Gutberlet The main way our office was using the function was to be able to compare one view/ space at different points in the year. We created independent views that carried the sun settings for the Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice, Spring Equinox, and Autumnal Equinox(See image below). We would then use the set sun position function to allow us to quickly move through the different times of year in different spaces without having to create multiple views for each space or editing the source sun settings each time we wanted to compare the space in the summer to the winter. If this could be a function that was rethought and brought back in a later version i think it would be beneficial.


    I have also noticed that the view list is no longer in alphabetical order, is there a reason for that change as well?

    This is caused by a bug, but this will resolved with 2.7.1 which will release soon - afterward the views will be sorted alphabetically again.

    Yes, please put those features back. They were very useful!


    Perhaps I won't miss them as much for new and future views, but for now, all my old views seem much harder to manage than before!


    Sometimes I find a good sun angle for one new view and I want it applied to views I've already created. How can I do this now with the latest interface?

    jdigiacomo , welcome to our forum too, I've gladly forwarded your feedback as well - at least at the moment you'll have to setup the sun's position manually in the views and then simply make sure to save the changes.

    Can you give an update on this? We have 40+ 3D views saved in our Revit model. I would like to adjust the sun to the desired position and save for each view. Right now when I do the 'batch render' of all of these views they all have the same sun setting. I am working around this by going view-by-view adjusting the sun setting and rendering individually. I do not want to have to create a new view template for each of these views in Revit to get the desired effect. I am currently using version 2.5.3 because I tried out a newer version and experienced bugs so I reverted back. If being able to set the sun setting per view has been added to the newest version, I will happily try it out. Thanks!

    Yes, I desperately need to be able to set the sun location/ time of day for renderings. The sun location is key to every architect's design. We design most of the time based on the sun's and other site specific, natural element locations. This is Architect 101. If you are selling this software to architects, then assigning sun locations should be a top priority.

    The sun location comes from Revit. Make sure to set the view to a solar study for a single day. Enscape will read the sun location. This is Revit 101. If you are using Enscape for architecture, assigning the location of the sun properly in Revit should be a top priority.
