Cooperative mode

  • Hi,

Is there any work or development focus on cooperative mode. To walk together with the client, shareholders or project lead through the model. I could even imagine that they follow, transport with the guide and can per option only look around. We had such a presentation in our office were the team linked two computers into one scene. We had 2 HTC VIVE, each on one computer and we could see our avatars. This looks like a great potential as we often see that clients can not really interact with the technology pretty well. Looking forward to your feedback.

  • GRAFT Thank you for your feedback!

I've forwarded your request to our developers.

What software allowed for a cooperative experience?

  • My worry with this is who controls where you go and also how you follow? If someone is guiding you through the building without controlling anything it could be quite disorientating and if you're guiding yourself and trying to follow someone how do you know where they are in relation to where you are within the building if you both have a headset on?

  • DanS - thanks for your comment

when we had this test setup it was very promising to be with the partners / clients / design director in the same scene and discuss certain areas and designs together. With the laser pointer and pen we could make suggestions and had a collaborative VR work session.

we could see following solutions from our test within unity for enscape

mode01-passive: one user is the guide and the other uses (guests) are always at the same position but have the freedom to look around on there own.

mode02-active: all the users are in the same scene can see each other and walk on there own.

    comments welcome

  • IrisVR and InsiteVR can do this. A lot of others as well, but maybe not as well developed for collaboration. As you can imagine, collaboration is critical to the architecture industry, especially when dealing with clients who have never done VR before or want someone to hold their hand in the model.

  • I love Enscape,

and it would be great if developers could hurry up with collaborative mode, because there are companies popping up with worse rendering and higher pricing than Enscape offering such collaborative mode.

Besides IrisVR there is The Wild from Portland for example. Check out their presentation on Virtual Collaboration.

    Please Enscape,
at least give a green light to the development of this feature and let the architectural community know. We need to plan for this feature in Enscape or have to build our workflows relying on other inferior services.
