Alot of problems with Enscape - Why are you charging full price for broken/basic program

Reminder: If you encounter any issues with Enscape or your subscription please reach out to our dedicated support team through the Help Center or by using the Feedback button as detailed here.
  • Immediate fixes needed:

    1. Add field of view hotkey

    2. add brightness / sun power hotkey

    3. OVERHAUL animation component. - making animatedwalkthrough is pure s

    4. Expand materials to allow for native Substance Materials - SBSAR

    5. Fix licensing. Allow for a dekstop and laptop to work on the same account. stop being greedy assholes, most companies allow this (i'm blaming business side not developers for this).

    6. REMOVE the extra dialogue box when rendering... , why do i need you to ask for "ok" again, and i cant even click on the program window to adjust, it was better when i could just hotkey render twice.

    7. DISPLACEMENT SHADER MATERIAL LAYER- does this even need to be mentioned?... seriously!!!! its 2020 and rendering software doesnt have displacment... wtf!!

8 . animation information window blocks the entire viewport and doesnt have safe frames to see where you are pointing the camera. its bad people.

  • Dude or dame.... Chill.

If you've been in the industry for any length of time, like I have (32 years), you should understand that this company is more responsive to customer requests than 98% of the competition. Sure, there are features we all want to see, but they've have a stellar track record of listening to user requests and then delivering what they can without making the software bloated and slow.

Substance, yes would be great, but its more an integration issue with the modelling application's material system than it is with Enscape.

Displacement mapping, of course. This puts a higher tax on the engine, which effects frame-rate. I'd love to have it regardless.

Asset library local caching... and some method of scattering assets... my main wish-list request.

All of this takes time and money, and this software is extremely affordable for the product they provide.

Enscape has revolutionized real-time integrated rendering, making it easier than ANYONE else to get great quality with very little effort.

If you disagree, I'd love to hear who is doing it better.

I'm sorry tandem.design , but this is your third post in this forum about the features you'd like to see implemented in a short amount of time - your voice is being heard, and we forward each and every upvote or feature request, even if it's internally we do track it. And I'm not saying this system has still some room for improvements, but we're working on that as well. While I can understand your frustration as mentioned in the other post, we're a relatively young company, employing new developers as quickly as we can while we of course also have to make sure that they'll be fitting into the team. Not always so easy, it does take time, and the current circumstances make this even more challenging than we would like.

We'll always have limited resources like any other company and we will always try our best when it comes to making our customers happy. We listen to each and every user, we're open to constructive feedback, so next time you share your thoughts with us, please keep it civil.

  • wow, take it easy! what you are mentioning is small things you would like to see implemented, and definitely NOT something that deems enscape broken in any way. We all have stuff that we would like to see implemented, but this does not mean that enscape isn't worth every penny already! I dont think you quite understand what a truly remarkable piece of software enscape is at its bones: It is a real time rendering engine that comes very close to the fidelity of old offline render engines, offering quality in seconds that used to take hours, all while being extremely user friendly and intuitive. adding stuff like displacement mapping in a real time engine (in a user friendly way) is NOT easy, and we have to accept certain limitations when we are right at the bleeding edge of what the technology is capable of.

And further more, i've never come across a team of developers that implements features at the same rate as enscape. what they have done in two years is beyond impressive. New stuff are coming all the time, and they have always listened closely to the community for inputs and requests... although I'm not sure your angry approach is the right way to do it... in fact, its just very uncool (just like "liking" your own comment, hehe).

  • wow dude. you seriously dont get it...

  • Lol. Hey tandem, there are plenty of software packages to choose from. Do you go and put the other forums on blast too? Am I 100% satisfied with where Enscape is currently? No, there are plenty of features I'd like to see implemented. Have I tried other software and found that Enscape has by far the best price/performance and best meets my needs? YES! Your needs are not unique, don't act like somehow you've been especially wronged.

so i cant speak out why some basic stuff isnt in the program, yet being charged for full price?

  • im chill AF

You put on an act like the software is broken and somehow your needs are sacrosanct. Like others have said better: chill.

sorry for saying EVERYONE needs hotkeys in a computer program. serioulsy, enscape doesnt have hotkeys, name one program where you cant?

enscape did have a render hotkey but they broke it by adding a dialogue box you have to check.... defeating the purpose of a hotkey.

  • Frankly, the hotkeys you're asking for are completely unimportant for MY use of the program. Bet that sucks to hear.

I happen to like the simplicity of Enscape's animation system. Yeah, bummer again.

Get a network license if you want to switch between machines. Business is business. That's how the world works.

Does Enscape value YOUR requests above everyone else? The answer is NO. That's why our wonderful support folks from Enscape responded that they would add your VOTES for feature requests to the list.

I'm guessing your specific requests are either NOT shared by enough others to become development priorities, or they take more time and resources than is reasonable.

Again, please tell me what other software provides equal or better results AND has developers that listen. Until then, I suggest keeping your vitriol to yourself.

  • Blender devs are waaaay better.... and its free! if you want to compare these guys to autodesk, then i guess your standards are just lower than i can imagine.

If enscape wants to focus on expanding to new platforms and not fixing basic problems with their software i guess thats their fault.... its pretty easy to bootleg this program, bet that sucks to hear. Twinmotion is pretty much going to destroy enscape, so really i am trying to help your boys from getting rekt.

FYI... i teach about 300 students and decide which program they should learn... bet that also sucks to hear!
if i dont see more updates guess who which program i am going to promote... not Enscape by autodesk. :)

i appreciate spending the money to help the development of this program, but it feels like a complete ripoff to not see any progress. ive only seen a couple of things improve... libraries, and materials for archicad, oh and new skies. i would say thats pretty much it except for minor improvements to reflections.

maybe you are ok with spending full price on a basic program or paying the development of platforms that you will never use. Not me. I actually hate it.

tandem.design , we're all for free speech and such, but there is a limit. I've sent you a warning - if this trend continues I don't see any option but to remove you, which would be the very first time I'd have to ever since I started working here almost 3 years ago. It's just a bit sad to me - you could keep it constructive while still telling us what you'll like to see implemented, but it feels like most of what your write is just out of anger and pure frustration.

This is not professional in my opinion though, and most of our users tell us what they want in a calm manner (even though we're very aware that they may be frustrated because they've been waiting for a feature for a while), which makes us listen to them quite a lot more, please trust me - when you see a thread, the third one detailing the same things you want to see implemented over and over, while using capslock and borderline insulting us, how should that motivate anyone to really sit down and take it seriously?

You are also kind of "threatening" us with your students in my opinion, at least to some extend - yes, we'd loose about 300 potential students, but I don't think it's nice to use them like this because you're unhappy that some of your feature requests have not been implemented yesterday.

It would be sad to see you go, really, but again - I don't see any other option.

  • Ah yes, Blender, that paragon of user-friendliness and simple learning curve. (I've been using it since 2012) I would also happily compare the pace of development with Enscape's (Blender was released in 1994)

Again, go ahead and bash Enscape, but you titled this thread:

"Alot of problems with Enscape - Why are you charging full price for broken/basic program"

I would counter that this program is not, in fact, either basic or broken. The amusing thing is that a number of items you mention many of us have already noted and asked for, so all you're doing is coming in looking like a jackass.

  • but it feels like most of what your write is just out of anger and pure frustration.

Yes, after recent events were i lost business because the license server was not working. Consider this customer not a happy camper.

while using capslock and borderline insulting us, how should that motivate anyone to really sit down and take it seriously?

Hey, i need to get peoples attention, sometimes making a scene is the appropriate response, not another survey. Disgruntled customers are part of running a business. You cant make everyone happy all the time right?

You are also kind of "threatening" us with your students

the fact is i want your program to be better, it has potential. my students are currently using Lumion 10 now. i want to switch to enscape. It wasnt a threat but i was addressing mr. medmonds statment that he has 35 years experience. i am the department head of digital design at an interior design / architecture construction technology college with about 300 students. that is just a fact. i didnt address that to the escape staff or to anyone else in that statement nor did i follow up with any type of "or else". so dont take that as me "taking my ball and going home". its just saying, hey, i think i also know what i am talking about yah?

I can work on venting my frustrations but please please work on some solution that does not leave you customers high and dry. its easy to feel like enscape is just another big company (bigger than mine) that takes your money and tells you to shutup and enjoy whatever comes down the pipe. sorry, i just dont do that. If there are legit criticism. like, we havnt seen updates to some simple quality of life features, but then there is an expansion to an entire platform like vectorworks. i think there is a legitimate criticism in that regard.

so to peanut gallery, if you see someone who is angry, why piss them off further? why be so condescending? why tell them to shutup and that their reasons for being frustrated lack any kind of basis. If you dont want to make the situation better than why even respond? just move along.

  • Ah yes, Blender, that paragon of user-friendliness and simple learning curve.

Fellow blender user here. This statement is so true, it made me laugh out loud. Love blender, but holding it up as the shiny example of user friendliness is indeed absurd...

@Demian this is the first thread in almost 4 years where I think it would be better to close it. You shouldn't be ok with being treated like this. There are basics standards of communication that everyone should adhere to.

Doesn't matter whether it's online or in real life. The OP is addressing/insulting/yelling at real people... If someone acted like this at the enscape booth at built, security would escort him out.
