Video runs smooth in programme, however when exporting, it jumps, and looks really strange. PLEASE HELP

  • HI,

I am new to enscape in sketch up.

have a deadline fast approaching and I am really struggling to figure out why when exporting, my animation jumps and is not smooth. When I preview inside enscape it does not do this. I cannot attached the clip as it exceeds the file limit.

It may be a simple fix, but I thought this would be the best way to find my answer.

    PLEASE HELP :)

  • Bannerms13 , if you could briefly upload the video to YouTube for example for us to have a look at would be great.

You can also send a short video recorded with your phone which only shows the "animation jumps". And additionally, you can gladly share the Video Path file with me which you can export beforehand for troubleshooting. Please also try a different player to view your video, often times a missing codec or such can be responsible for weird hiccups / artifacts and such.

    Thank you in advance!

  • I have the same issue video render exported, in that render video texture is jumping its not playing smoothly. Please help me out

I'm sorry to hear about that. Is there any chance you could share the rendered video with us, just so that I can see the problem directly? :) If it's possible you can upload the video via wetransfer.com and send me the link via a DM. Also, I know it's a trivial question but, the video file itself when opened independently runs fine, right?

    Hi Demian,

I am also having this issue when exporting a video render. The preview in the video is much smoother than the exported version. Any help would be greatly appreciated as a deadline is fast approaching and I've never had this issue before!

  • Hello Demian,

Just to add to the list, I am also experiencing this same issue. My white mode video exported okay however when I export my video with all textures, when I rewatch the mp4 file it is very jolty and not smooth. I am stuck on how to resolve this!

  • I also have video jumps.

I realized that this happens when the video "weighs" a lot and the video player does not cope with the task.
You can try to upload the video to your phone and the video will play smoothly there.
I also often edit videos in a video editor and when I save the result I set a slightly lower resolution and then this problem is solved!

  • Could it be the computer has trouble playing back the video at the resolution it was created at? Did you try using VLC or other advanced Video Player to play the video at half the resolution instead of at full resolution?

On a previous PC I had I could not play 4k videos smoothly in Windows Media Player, but then I tried with VLC at half resolution and then the video played smoothly... Maybe you do not have the correct video codec installed in Windows? Again, VLC could help with the following settings:

    https://www.quora.com/How-do-I…er%20quality%20you%20want).

Alternatively, there are video codec packs that can be downloaded to allow Windows Media player to play videos a bit better provided your PC and video card allow for it... I recall videohelp.com has lots of info about video codecs... I recall using XPcodec pack, or something like that... but you may want to check what works best if VLC does not do the trick. I would try VLC first, then go from there... Also, you could try opening the video in Chrome web browser or Firefox.

  • Generally, to anyone who experiences this, it would still be great to receive one of those problematic videos, via wetransfer.com for example, and the link can be sent to me via DM if the project is confidential.

Also, please kindly do not use Windows Media Player but instead VLC for example - the WMP is notoriously known for causing such issues like the video not being smooth, jumpy, etc. which would then boil down to a problem not related to Enscape. Let me know if VLC does not do the trick!

Overall though, if the hardware of the machine itself you're trying to run the video on is not powerful enough, even VLC may not help - but this should mostly only be the case for 4k videos and if the hardware is really on the lower end.

Again, if anyone experiencing this problem can send me one of these problematic files then we can further troubleshoot if it's caused by Enscape or just the media player (or low-end hardware).

  • Hi!

    Same issue here,
Happy to send the video export to you Demian Gutberlet , to where can I send it?

result is in general very choppy with 1 or 2 short sections where it runs smooth.

Choppy video in export, smooth video in preview.

Exports with high FPS and maximum compression quality.

Playing in VLC or similar from local harddrive -

  • Welcome to our Forum and sorry to hear about that. Can you briefly send me an example video where you experience the choppiness? You can upload the file to wetransfer.com for example and send me the link via DM.

If that is not possible, please also send in a dedicated feedback report and we will check your log files and machine to find out the cause behind this. Finally, what is the resolution of the video(s)?

    Hi Demian,

I have the same issue with my rendered videos. I uploaded a short part of it which can be reached through this link: https://we.tl/t-3GpYxcT3rx
The quality of the video is "email" and FPS is set to 60.

Any advice to solve this issue would be appreciated! Thank you.

  • Hi Demien

I have the same problem exporting to video. I am using the latest sketchup and enscape and all animates smoothly in sketchup and in enscape but the exported mp4 file which I view using VLC was incredibly slow and appeared to hang, jolt when it moves on and when it did move was so slow. Yes its a big file size but SU and Enscape handled it fine inside the programs. I was just wondering if you found a fix as yet please?
Also I noticed whilst the exporting video process was happening, a fragmented line flashes across the screen every 4 seconds just before it moves on to the next position. Photo attached. Not sure if this is related or not. Sorry its blurry, had to take a video of it with my phone and stop it in the right place to capture the flash across the screen. Happens throughout each move. Only appears during the exporting video process.

In this case, a feedback report would be great as mentioned above - you can mention my name in the submission form, or simply include a link to this thread. Meanwhile, you can also gladly let me know, which graphics card is built into your system? It may struggle with the video playback, so my question is also, in which resolution did you export it?

Furthermore, when it comes to the "fragmented line flashes across the screen every 4 seconds just before it moves on to the next position", can you perhaps also upload that video to wetransfer.com and add the link to it into the Feedback submission form? Then, we should have all information required to troubleshoot this further.

  • I have the same very choppy renderings out of Enscape for Revit. Revit 2021, latest Enscape version, 4k Blueray/60 fps for settings. VLC Player seems to basically fix the issue, but I can't have my clients downloading players to fix issues in these files. How is this being addressed?
