I created this family using the emit from line shape source inside a self illuminated poly tube. In Revit it renders properly but enscape shows up as a spotight. My drivers are up to date.

Hi BeauEos , thanks a lot for your report and welcome to our forum.
Due to technical reasons this is a normal behavior, especially when the line light in this case is longer than 1,5 meters. You can try to reduce the length accordingly until it gets rendered properly, although, if you're unsuccessful, then this may also be caused by the fact that the light is located behind geometry in the scene itself, so we therefore we determine a very low influence radius.
In this regard you may actually want to use an emissive source instead as a light object replacement (take a strip of geometry and check the self-illumination option in the material editor of Revit itself) , this should then give you the results you're looking for.
I hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply Demian Gutberlet I've tried the self illumination but when it renders the light doesnt graze the wall very far, any tips for improving the effect?

Can you briefly send me a screenshot of that for better understanding? Does it help if you increase the brightness or size?

I have fought this battle so many times, testing different light lengths, emissive materials, etc. and find that none of them really are adequate.
The only approach I've found that is consistently workable is a line based family with a nested light fixture family arrayed within the host family. The problem with the emissive material approach is that you get splotchy lighting... You need a real light source to avoid that.

This is a workplane based light fixture family with "light source" unchecked. The nested families of course contain the light sources. By converting the array count to a type or instance parameter, you can adjust the spacing of the lights from within your project.
