What are the points for?, I see I have 173 points, for every 100 points we get a request approved?

What are the points for?, I see I have 173 points, for every 100 points we get a request approved?
good question i was wondering the same thing the other day.....so many point we get free subscription 
The points have no usage so far.
Maybe we should come up with fancy forum member titles based on that
