Wow...that was a few years back. When you say expensive are you saying that it takes a long time to render?

You'll have to create a model that is really cut like you want it. Enscape will not allow lighting to come through with a section cutting plane.

Use Corona all the time. It's my main renderer.

Check Raytraced shadows and see if that helps.

Yep...I agree. Slow to render animations compared to Enscape, but faster than if we were to render them straight out of 3ds MAX. Stills are quick. Enscape does hold the monopoly on speed.

That's pretty general. Every workflow is different. In our office I would say 70/30. Most designers use Sketchup for their iterations before it goes into Revit. Rhino only used for more organic and parametric designs, then into Revit. I'm part of the last piece of the workflow receiving files from all of the above. Forced to work in skp so that animations can be done quickly. Skp drives me nuts, but have been able to generate some decent size projects and even importing some of my info from 3ds MAX using Transmutr. However, having Enscape for 3ds max would actually speed up my workflow since I wouldn't have to bounce around between apps. My current workaround now is just using Chaos Vantage instead of Enscape.

Ya...if it didn't crash all the time, has a good pathtracer that could interpolate between frames in the animation, has some type of support that includes actual techs from Epic or TM, and if it can manage the same times as Enscape. So far Enscape wins in time and quality.

Autodesk kills a lot of companies they buyout. They don't even talk to each other internally, hence all the legacy bugs that were never fixed. They've never been able to partner with any good rendering companies because of that fact. Mental Ray, Iray, now Arnold have never caught on. I started with Finalrender, went to Vray and now use Corona. Chaos has always made a better product and have become a leader because of the great customer support they offer along with that. So I feel that this merger will bring forward some good improvements and tools for both companies and we, as users will benefit.

Lol...Lighscape. You're dating yourself.

Of course no one knows the future. These same concerns came up with the Corona community when they bought out Corona. Corona is still going strong and is my main render engine. I started with Vray, and found that final quality, speed and ease of use was better with Corona. So having them both under the Chaos umbrella has only been a positive experience.

For those who are concerned...Think of it like what's happening with Volvo. They are owned buy a Chinese car company that specializes in EV tech. They allow Volvo to design and work like they always have, but now Volvo has more R&D for EV tech. Hence Polestar.

Herbo Chaos is pretty good at allowing the companies they either buy or merge with to work as how they've always worked. When they bought Corona, both engines started to share features between each other, but still develop independently. I can see this as win, win. More money for R&D. Features and codes shared to allow for faster or better features. I'm thinking Vantage too, since render times are slow compared to Enscape. Plus there's that missing VR and textures editing component.

Welcome to the Chaos world, Enscape. It will be interesting to see how products evolve because of this. I've been a Chaos user for years and use Vray, Corona and now Vantage. Also a Enscape user since my client's are skp users. So good times.

Maybe...I tested the same file on my new laptop with a 3000 series rtx card. The first images were rendered on a Desktop with an old 2000 series rtx card and it seems like the denoiser isn't applied to the image. See attached images from laptop with new card. Cleaner.

I've noticed that with the latest version of Enscape, the render quality of the final image is less than the image in the viewer. Anyone else running into this issue?
-
@fhd...if you used vray for your render engine, you should try Chaos Vantage. It's like Enscape for MAX. Realtime renderer.
-
+1...having Enscape for max would be awesome and speed up my workflow. Also a Max 2022 and corona user, but the speed of creating animations in Enscape forces me to work in skp which slows me down. You have it for Revit why not port it out for Max. Both Autodesk apps. And you would definitely take a bit out of Chaosgroup's marker share.

It also would be nice if Enscape actually had some collision constraints so you can't go through walls and furniture while experiencing the space.

I wonder if the younger peeps have viewed VR in UE 4. It gives you much more interactivity where you can click on something and get a menu to switch materials etc. Even grab and move objects. Even Yulio which is only a fix point experience allows for design options. And yes...The people's faces are very saturated and red. I typically have to turn down the saturation to get them to look somewhat normal.
