I've separated out the specific timestamp fix to a new thread.

Oh, I know, I'm just disappointed and a bit bitter. I don't have any issues with your moving the thread but it's most definitely a statement about how feedback on here is valued versus the corporate directives.
-
Lol, so not a feature request any more, eh? (moved to "off-topic") I hear you loud and clear.
-
ah well. I gave D5 a quick spin but quickly found serious limitations as soon as I tried interior renderings. I guess if anything I'll be glad to eventually have V-Ray rendering back in the toolkit, as it achieves a level of lighting quality I have yet to encounter in any other biased rendering software. At the moment, for me, the speed/quality value proposition of Enscape remains undefeated.
fix the video editor.

I guess I'm going to check back in with Blender and see if I realtime rendering is usable these days for architectural interiors. (realistic GI has been a serious limitation.)

Ah, geez. So the focus is on vray compatibility, meanwhile we either use the half-finished Enscape video editor or even worse try to do video with vray directly in Sketchup. Thanks, I hate it. I guess my thread will be pointless for likely another year at least.
One such topic is, for example, the video editor, which we want to fundamentally rework technically in order to lay a robust foundation for the future and to be able to properly implement your feature request.
-
Since I was thinking about it today, I tried the latest preview release (3.5 preview 7) Video editor hasn't changed (still messing up the timestamp and duration whenever the 2nd to last keyframe is adjusted.)
What exactly is new in Enscape? Seems like we haven't had any major feature updates or releases in a while.

Fix the damn video editor.

What resolution textures are you wanting to use?
Add a decent number of high res textures, especially PNG formats and the SU file size can really balloon to where it starts affecting read/write times and navigation. Like JBB says, better to keep textures in SU under 1k as placeholders, and preferably as lossy jpegs.

I would love to be able to do this like I used to V-Ray and stop having to use full resolution images in the Sketchup file.
-
I see there's a new preview. I suppose the video editor update is not on the table yet again
-
Yes, I can confirm this happens when I try it as well. The view pops back to the last keyframe position.
I didn't necessarily mean using the xml as a suggestion to you, I was highlighting that the video editor is deficient and I have to rely on xml backups and editing for basic editor functionality. Functionality that we should already have, a year in and several versions later.
-
I typically save the xml file regularly as I work specifically because of the lack of undo!

Good day! Any news of progress on the video editor? I see there's a lot of excitement building around V-Ray integration. I've been out of the V-Ray loop for a while so I have a question: is there an effort to pull folks in to using Enscape from the V-Ray side? Will they be as disappointed with limits of the video editor as we are? It doesn't look good that such a core feature has unfinished controls.
-
I might just stick to weekly spamming.
Devs - any news on video editor updates?
-
It's exciting to see the coordination between the 2 products progressing. I am very discouraged that the video editor has stalled for over a year in its current half-baked state. There's still the 2nd to last keyframe issue, the GUI lacks the ability to slide keyframes and everything is still click-through. Issues long since discussed. Enscape Video Editor Complaints
When are we getting updates to this video editor? I'm still having to manually edit the xml file to be able to work around the duration shift when the timestamp of the 2nd to last keyframe is adjusted.

It should be fixed in the latest previews. Is it the same problem as this thread? RE: mirror not rendering alpha cutout correctly (3.4)
-
I use a sketchup component library as a workaround, but it sure would be nice to have Sketchup assets directly importable through the Enscape library.

Unfortunately I encounter this all the time as well. The addition of RTX enabled ray-tracing has helped a fair amount, but I still get these "glowing" trees in low-contrast situations. I would love to see better handling of these kind of global illumination cases. The default full sun model makes the shadows too dark, and there doesn't seem to be good way to lighten the shadows outside of post-processing.
