Besides the horrible workflow, I also find that the sky shifts slightly from one worksession to another so I can never re-render the exact same image from one day to another. There really needs to be some thought by Enscape developers for how to produce consistent renders (by default - not several steps of saving and re-loading settings.)

There's some weird issue where my color adjusted material is rendering black. I'll send a report and sample. Also, still having to select the material in the material editor, the enscape editor still comes up blank without the selected material showing up. (material browser not syncing to material selection)
Quite frustrated to see this did not get fixed for the release.

So far preview 8 is working well.

Oof! I've been on vacation for a while and just encountered this error now that I'm back to work (3.4 preview 2). I couldn't use the newer preview versions as the solar time was messed up and I kept getting the wrong time of day on previously saved views. I'll try the newest preview, but this is quite disappointing..

Something odd going on with time of day. First model I opened, the lighting shows middle of the night even though the scene is set to middle of the day. (I checked geolocation and nothing changed from when I last opened my model in 3.4 preview *2*)
*edit* - looks like it might be taking the time from longitude 0.000 instead of local time...
*edit 2* - the last working preview was 3.4 preview 2, it was also off in preview #3
For example - this scene is set to 9 am, but I need to shift the time to 4pm to get the same render as before.

Hey devs - are you aware or should I file a bug report?
-
In previous versions, when I open the material editor, it automatically went to the active material. In the 3.4 preview versions (And I think it was happening in 3.3 as well) the material editor has no selected material when I open it, so every. single. time. I have to either switch to the picker and re-select the material, or browse the material list in order to select the material I want. Can you please restore the previous behavior, this is annoying.

yeah, same with video editor issues. C'mon Enscape devs, fix basic usability first.

Oh, I agree with you, what I mean is that it's saved me from completely losing a previous setting altogether. I would much rather an opt-in to save new settings than the overwrite situation we currently have.
-
Yes, currently I have to remember to duplicate a setting (or save settings to a file for insurance.) I would much rather have some kind of automatic save of previous settings, or a checkbox before you overwrite your current settings.
One helpful thing (a small silver lining) is that the current setting is saved when the model file is saved. Thus, if you have an older saved version of the file with the previous visual settings, you can open that up, export the setting, and then replace the setting that you just inadvertently changed with this restored previous version.

I've been having success adding a backdrop (with the sky cut out in a transparent .png file) into the enscape horizons folder. This allows you to select your new backdrop from the sky settings. I've noticed it's a little fiddly in terms of Y scaling, but works ok after a bit of trial and error. The folder is found here: "C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Programs\Enscape\Renderer\SystemData\Textures\Horizons" and you can use one of the preset ones as a temaplate for the size and proportion.

Unfortunately, it seems that any cutout texture gives a noisy result, regardless of the smoothness or scale. It appears one has to render at a higher resolution and then down-sample to get a smoother render result. The transmittance option for transparency is glass-like, and doesn't work at all for curtains. I would like to see a way for the material to be smoother natively as well.
-
I encountered the same problem and I ended up using a fabric bump texture for transparency (In the latest v3 of Enscape.) That seems to work ok for sheer curtains using a regular material (not foliage - no transparency setting available)

I keep waiting to hear some news about the video editor. It's so bad the way it behaves now with the second to last keyframe jumping all over the place.
The other major thing I keep waiting for is to be able to change the colors of assets. There's one white Tesla model 3. I'd like to be able to change at least the paint color.

I gather this is the end goal, what Lumion has: https://support.lumion.com/hc/…treetMap-in-Lumion-10-Pro Does anyone use Lumion these days and can comment whether the OSM feature is useful at all? I have to imagine someone uses it...
Seriously!? So this is all about chasing Lumion features? To what end, the open maps stuff looks like garbage in Lumion too.
Fix the video editor.

After having another talk with PM you can be assured that the Editor is getting a major overhaul accordingly
Glad to hear it, look forward to seeing it in the previews sooner than later!
-
For crying out loud. The problems with the video editor were first discussed last May! Video editor 2nd to last keyframe change keeps shifting video duration
This is a core function of the software that still has not been fixed for the better part of a year at this point. Fix it! There shouldn't be a need for people to keep sending in requests for something like this.

I truly don't know how it does it, look at the hedge on the 2nd screen grab and honestly tell me how it manages to create leaves from the few pixels that are actually there.
Impressive!!

Paul - that looks pretty amazing. What does it do with something more detailed, like foliage?
