You can work around this until we have this improved by using our offline asset library.
This link is dead
Ok thanks
If you don't have number pad keyboard the on screen keyboard will also work (in the interim). You may also be able to activate a numeric keypad on your computer.
Hi Phil thanks for the response. I dont see an interactive keypad in my Enscape window. Im using Enscape with Rhino 7.
I have only some graphics in the Help panel.
Grateful if you could explain what youre referring to.
Since you're seeing our Enscape Asset placeholders in this case this behavior is entirely normal. We aren't using the full high quality model in the Rhino viewport to mainly save on performance especially, so in most cases especially in larger more complex scenes this is the desired behavior.
In Revit in this case you can replace the appearance of the placeholder models by the way. I wanted to bring it up as I can see you're also using Revit 2019, but at least currently this is not something we've implemented into Rhino itself mainly due to technical reasons.
To make your voice heard you can of course forward this a feature request to product management directly as well, alongside any other which may be on your mind. Thank you!
Hi Thanks for the response.
I am actually using Rhino 7. Is there any way to replace the placeholder in Rhino as per the link you sent to me for Revit?
The problem with having placeholder with no mapping is that you dont have a good preview of what the scene looks like until youre in Enscape and then when youre in Enscape you cant select the assets and easily manipulate or delete them (I know you can to some extent). You end up doing a very awkward switching back and forth to try to control the scene based on what you see in the Enscape browser and can manipulate in the modelling interface. For example sometimes you want to align a modeled element with a large Enscape asset and cant judge where to position it.
Another consideration is that people will often generate screengrabs and basic mockups from the render view in Rhino (as well I imagine as other software) and it kind of bums up the scene to see these big blobby white placeholders populating your nice model. It also makes it difficult to model.
Compare the non-Enscape assets with the Enscape ones in this screengrab.
Its very quiet in this forum. Seems that Enscape (for Rhino at least) doesn't have many users.
I figured out how to place multiple assets the problem is that you can not precision over how many and which are imported and if there are duplicates.
Grateful if anyone has any tips?
At the current moment you'd require a dedicated numpad to make use of the shortcuts.
Any updates on this? Not everyone has a number pad on their keyboards and it is really inconvenient to not be able to switch to flat views (layout, elevs etc)
Also does anyone know how to zoom extents inside the Enscape interface?
Display MoreHi there,
I set up somewhat of a stageset in my model with vegetation assets framed for specific views. Everything was working well until randomly they all appeared white/gray sans materiality. I updated enscape, restarted my computer, etc. with no luck. Any solution? Even when placing a new asset, it shows up white.
Thanks!
Is this the Rhino interface or the Enscape interface? I have the same problem with the assets having no materials in the Rhino interface but they display normally in the Enscape interface. See attached images. Any idea what could be wrong?
Hi,
I use Enscape with Rhino (v7).
I would like to make a Rhino (3dm) reference file with all the Enscape vegetation assets in it for me to be able to get an overview of them all side by side
There are 512 of them in my library.
I would like to be able to select them all (or at least a good number of them) and add them to the file but Rhino itself as well as the Rhino Enscape interface only allows me to select them individually from the asset browser. This is not a practical solution.
Can someone enlighten me how I can make the process less laborious?
Thanks
A way of getting around that is running ExtractRenderMesh that will create a mesh object that includes the displacement.
Thanks!
Hi, I have a displacement object in rhino which when i render in Enscape is not displaying (See attachments)
Is there either a way to convert the rhino displacement into an actual object (not a displaced image) or to make it display in Enscape?
Thanks
Too complicated. Better to associate the a suitable Revit family with the Enscape asset. This clarifies graphics, visibility states, scheduling, family category and other parameters.
Hi, what do you mean by "associate"? You mean load the Enscape geometry into a Revit family?
Meanwhile I would manage this issue creating a project parameter (maybe shared parameter) for planting and the categories Enscape use for their assets. I usually do this for creating filters for hide / show / modify view.
There are many ways to achieve this within Revit, even with little effort.
Two easy solutions from the top of my head:
- Use the design option with the assets in different option sets
- Use a system parameter (like comments or type comments) in combination with viewfilters
These do not allow you to make a change globally though.
Lets say for example i have Enscape trees and people families in the project and i want the trees to always appear as green in all views and the people appear as grey in all views. There is no way that I can see of making that change globally, The only option would be to assign a project parameter (trees, people) and then filtering each view using templates.
Is there not a way of setting a sub-category in the planting family which would allow us this flexibility. I see a parameter "label" but am unable to assign a value to it. Can anyone advise?
Another solution I have found is to double click on the object that you wish to zoom to.
Answering my own question here but I remembered that you can use the arrow up/down/left\right keys to get "elevation" views of the object. This will automatically zoom to fit which is a work around. Although i would still be interested if there is a zoom to fit shortcut that keeps the same angle.
Also while we are on it.... is there a way to view in plan? I feel like when I try to navigate to a "flat" plan view the panning bottoms out and I am unable to get to a vertical "birds eye" perspective.
Merci a tous.
Hi, just a quick one. I sometimes lose the model through zooming or panning or often the opening screen brings to me to distant view of the object where I have to pan or zoom for a long time to "reach" it in the frame.
Is there a quick way (keyboard shortcut) to zoom extents to take me straight to the content?
Thanks
Display MoreWelcome to our forum Glenn , first of, check out our dedicated knowledgebase article here which explains which formats you can use for a custom skybox in Enscape if you like.
Furthermore, you can actually simply use the so called "Google Street View" app on either your iPhone or Android device to create a 360 degree image. Alternatively, you could also acquire a dedicated 360 degree camera instead to also take images more easily, also without less stitching artifacts which may result when taking a 360 degree image with your phone for example.
Hi Demian,
I am struggling to use Google Street View to generate my Skybox. My problems are as follows:
1. One i have taken the 360 panorama with Google Street View (on an iPhone) it asks me to upload it to Google Maps which means that I am forced to share the image with the public which I don't particularly want to do.
2. Once it is online I am given the option to save the image to my phone/computer however the resolution is terrible (see attached). The total file size of the image is 81.3KB
Are you able to assist with these issue?
Is there a way to not show the layer (in my case keep it as air) but keep the layers beyond it opaque?
