I understand your request, we will discuss that. But your interpretation of the equations is wrong. Just because there are two planes of equal CoC (circle of confusion) in front and behind the focal plane does not mean that they are independent from each other. In fact, they are not. The camera parameters boil down to one degree of freedom that controls the CoC w.r.t the focal plane.

But anyway, I understand the request. Sometimes it might be useful to bend the laws of physics for artistic freedom. We will discuss that.

Great that you found a solution. One thing to consider is the white balance / color temperature of the image. This also causes a slight color distortion (also in photography). There are a few settings exposed on that matter.

That's still the case, the distance from glass pixel to respective background steers the diffusion intensity.

We were unhappy with the Trello roadmap because although it provided a great overview for you, it was hard for us to extract feedback from it due to the list-based comment structure of it (no multiple threads per card) and the voting system suffered from old cards always having more votes than newer ones. The configuration options of trello were too limited.

Solution: We will add a similar roadmap on our webpage. The reason why that took so long is that we overhauled our webpage, it will be launched in the next weeks. We will then add the new roadmap based on the new page system.

We will try to improve that in future releases. Since there are many different kinds of image noise, we'd appreciate if you could share images of what you mean. This ensures that we really work on what matters to you.

The perception of white depends on the exposure. Every surface, even bright snow, will become grey if you underexposure it. Try to increase exposure.

This particular bug has been fixed and will be in 2.7 and the 2.7 previews.

Yes but not in the near future. We like to improve the experience for all, like Sergio Fernando , and use RTX to get a speedup. But so far, there is only little visual difference yet a good performance speedup. So far we also implement the same feature set without RTX too, to ensure a broad compatibility.

This should now be fixed in the newest preview version. Will be released with 2.6.1.

Unless to increase the stars and moon to unrealistic high brightness, stars are super faint. You need to use long exposure to see them. Usually when you have other lights in your scene, the auto exposure regulates the exposure down.

This is also observable on real photography, like e.g. the images from the Apollo astronauts where you do not see stars at all due to the bright lunar surface

This is by design and ensures higher performance during VR. We may change that in the future for "High/Ultra" spec.

Depends on what you mean with "full render engine", this definition does not exist. The technical correct wording would be: Enscape is not a unbiased renderer in terms of light transport, hence comes with some limitations like e.g. multiple reflections which have been traded in favor of performance and scalability.

To answer the question: I am not aware of a good workaround to achieve this effect. You could fake it by extruding it into the wall with a sheet of glass in front of it. but that's not fully applicable in all cases.
